Some might remember I slaughtered Wanyama once in a game last season. I think was Hull City away. He either genuinely wasn't trying or he was injured.
But this season he's done ok for me. He's even winning the ball back more than last season , more interceptions per game, more blocks per game, more clearances per game, more free kicks won per game, dispossessed less, more passes completed per game, even more key passes per game! Rather harsh to suggest he's not trying his best!!
I think been he has been similar to last year personally and has tried to get about a bit more to make up for Schneidetrlin's absence. The defence has just been very shaky, we've been wasteful in front of goal and he hasn't found a DM partner yet. Again I will say that personally I think Reed would compliment him best. The stats suggest Reed is our best ball winner. Reed is actually classed statically as 'very strong' for tackles and interceptions, that's extremely rare. He covers loads of ground. I think he'd be a great DM partner for Wanyama. One small feisty ball-winning DM that will run all game for you, one big strong ball-winning DM is a good combination imo
Well he scored vs Hull City away last year when we won 1-0 - so don't think that's right.
Why does everything become black and white when a team loses games? We lose, and people (some people I admit) say we are a terrible team with poor players, and a manager who hasn't got a clue what he is doing, and has lost the respect of the players. It isn't like that.
In my opinion of course, we lack confidence. For the first twenty minutes yesterday we played some good stuff - had a good intensity and created some chances and should've scored. We didn't, and when we conceded a pathetically amateurish first goal, we folded and the game was lost by half time.
For twenty minutes against Liverpool we did the same thing, got in front, should've scored more, and then conceded a poor goal, and lost it by half time. When our chances go in, we will start to regain our confidence.
It's an easy thing to say I know, but we aren't a bad side at all: just a good one with players lacking confidence and making the wrong decisions in key areas. Koeman is just as frustrated as we are, but the least he deserves is our respect and to be given time for Christ sake. He lead us to our highest ever finish. People can say, we fell away in the second half of last season, but the facts tell us it was our best ever PL season. To consider chucking him off the bridge after a poor run, doesn't wash with me. He needs to be backed, and that includes in the transfer window.
PS. I respect that others have different opinions on this, but short memories seem too frequent nowadays. Ronald is a good manager, and our players are too, just need a bit of luck to change things and regain our confidence.
Your constant backing of Ramirez baffles me: the guy plays 20 minutes of a game, and we get "how good does he look" but then he buggers off for months because the guy is unfit and cannot cope with the intensity in this league. We've had 3 and half seasons of it. He has talent, but you can't rely on him. End of.
