Trouble is S&S are no longer a force
I work for a bigger concern worldwide
Most agencies in the world collaborate with us anyway
Talent I would suggest
VCCP - who I fight with daily
Adam & Eve
Mother

My lot include Smoke&Mirrors
Rockhound and Big Buoy

It makes the whole thing daft at QPR as we reject interns with real talent each day who in their own rights are good enough to run QPR's media department

It may come as no surprise that the reason I know my design is strong is because I have had senior colleagues worldwide look at it last year and they couldn't beat it

Seahoop is in the industry he knows what's what and I am guessing he also knows that if this was a serious pitch and not a hobby then a client would expect a 200-500 page rationale, presentation and a heap of marketing research.

Want a jaw dropper?

Accenture brand work from us
Over $200m

Stateside we do most of Coca Cola and have won it again

Most financial companies in the world ... Us

Lads I am a old fart who gave up my interest and career ten years ago and work today just to live. I can tell you inside the monster that is advertising there is a world most couldn't comprehend.

So the QPR thing is nothing more than a hobby which I should of kept separate from work. When you crossover then you can never turn off
Cost me two marriages

Better things in life than logos or making money. I tapped into what my true love QPR could be, players, managers and chairmen will all come and go ... The club belongs to you
The hoops belong to you
London belongs to you

Where are we now?

The four logos wouldn't make scamps
I should add that I have great contacts with:
Steel Balls
Bastard Squad
Recidivists!
Flatpack and
Toadzone

All top niche creative shops, they help us choose which animals best represent our products.

Here's a free idea for the club regardless of the logo they read this anyway

You want to grow the brand?
Stop paying 15m to the likes of SWP

Total Merchandise overhaul
Most of this should be place now for next season but it's probably too late

Essential outlet placements in both Westfields and Heathrow ... Do it
Start that now as we will always be West London

Success on the pitch is completely secondary

I was in Toulouse Saturday and the rugby merchandise which was very good was walking out these outlets

Think I am daft?
Count how many NY Yankees caps you see in five days being worm by people who I doubt don't even understand the game

Our retro logo has heritage without doubt but you can't read QPR it should be rested in peace as it was but again marketed as a retro item
We only know it because we are QPR fans it carries little weight going forward unless you use the original

I love it and have a few prized shirts

1967 when we won we didn't have a badge.

The club IMO are looking in the wrong direction and the entire livery is a mess ... There are no brand guardians and no control at the club

Anyone can make a trifle

Yes. The device or monogram is part of our heritage - we reference our past in conversation pretty much on a daily basis, and there is an apparent warmth for this type of crest. Legibility? Look at the 2 attached images - both developments and neither what you might call immediately readable to the uninitiated.

But both iconic, as our monogram is too.

Agreed in a way I am not convinced our crest with look great in a 3D space yet

Your logo is streets ahead of the submitted designs

2 is the one but even that needs redrawing. The typography policy of the club needs to be defined as you will know the crest should influence everything from that
No tone set from where i am looking from. At least the pair of us got the shape right

These are both beautiful designs by the way … take off queens park rangers from our badge we have a out of date twirly mess ,hardly a icon for anyone who doesn't know what QPR is? You and I do but our club's growth will be dependant on attracting tomorrow's fans IMO. If we can't do that in London then we maybe lost?

Again your design is the best remake of this format without doubt.

Mine was to draw and highjack as many of our elements I could incorporate into a simple form, It also needed to hit the ground running as both of ours do

Am I the only one that does not care about the badge?

I can't understand why a club would spend a lot of money (well, in my terms) on the marketing of a new badge that won't improve the income by one penny!

Totally agree, cant understand all this marketing ****e.

The brand of the club is the style of football we play and the legends of the club, not a crest/badge, that just says QPR in various styles.

Pointless waste of money.

I have to say like some other's I wasn't too bothered about the crest until i saw your presentation. How the crest can be a powerful tool in promoting the club brand.
A fantastic effort and one that I hope the club discuss with you. Will be a shame if the club do not reconsider or at last add your's to the other 4 options.
Do you still have any of the badges you made in that design that you were selling on ebay ?

Of course respect these views however almost everything we touch in our lucky part of the world is influenced by brand. Tomorrows fans of our club will be attracted with all elements and brand is very much key

From the car you drive to the beans you eat and where you buy them from. Investment and control of a brand will grow the club into a very attractive choice. Yes you will have heritage whereupon families and location influence what is nearly now a religious choice to what club they follow.

Football is a global multi billion pound business just sitting back and hoping you will attract more fans sadly isn't enough to sustain growth.

The step up and vision of our club to grow into a strong marketing force of course means primarily a good team but it has to be backed up with a solid marketing brand.

The revenue from brand is massive and snowballs so we end up being able to attract and pay for the best players. Yes it works if you just throw money in from other sources like Man City or Chelsea but in our case we wasted a massive fortune to be exactly where we are today. If there was a massive waste of money then it has to be our last five years or so.

It has also damaged the weak brand the club had. We now need to grow slow with a new brand to recover.

We may only turn over a few million with products now and that is small money in football but imagine that multiplied by 20, that's what good branding can do without a ball being kicked. Given our location and potential there is no excuses IMO

In August my company produced a series of TV ads for Wickes selling their laminated flooring on offer for bank holiday. 30 seconds with a production cost of around £2m

They sold £8m in two days and reported extra sales of £13m of products not associated to any of the products shot. People went to Wickes to buy flooring and brought something completely different and guess what they keep returning while sales reported from Homebase fell.

Homebase now considered the naff place to go for product. The irony is the flooring products are made by the same overseas manufacturer.

Wickes all of a sudden has more lolly and is considered and aligned with quality. The Homebase logo which was only just developed a few years back now looks like a place you don't what to go.

It's a roundabout ... but there's no waste of money in brand. Homebase will now need to think clever to recover or they stop growing and shrink

This isn't Food this is M&S food

Stu did them and thanks for the comments. It's true we don't think about brand well until we want to or have to buy something. It's a evil I struggle with daily and I often feel dreadful when I see my insurance designs in M&S and John Lewis as they selling nothing but peace of mind after giving you the fear in the first place. They take your money and then invest in making sure that claims paid out are at a minimum

Brands are very important and I have already been working with TalkTalk who are frankly destroyed. Let's see if they survive or not after that scandal. Doing a hobby thing with the very thing that allows me to escape this crap was a pleasure and I thank my fellow Rs fans for the nice comments. I will be meeting with Mr Hoos in the new year and am very much looking forward to it because our club deserves to be the best

We owe it to our past to promote our future

Hello rajman - yes, I have some pins remaining from the original batch.

I'll get these back up on eBay over the Christmas break and post a link on here.

New supporters will be attracted to our club by the style of football we play and success of our club, and our high profile players, not a badge/crest, that has QPR written in various ways.

You attract players by the Manager and reputation of the playing style of club, and £s provided by TF, not a badge.

But a tiny little badge ??? You telling me someone is going to look at the badge, and think, that looks great I'm going to start supporting that club ? OR "I like that badge, therefore I'm going to buy some merchandise" ?

Used to work in an advertising agency, so understand all you said. And that experience didn't change my opinion of advertising. I could list a large number of adverts that I have "liked", but would never consider buying the product, BECAUSE the quality is poor.

Vast majority of advertising (temped to say ALL advertising) is tedious and overlooked/avoided, by the Sky "fast forward button" (or making a cup of tea).

I buy my car/TV etc, by researching quality of product (I'm a member of Which, who provide detailed research on just about everything I need to buy), not an ounce by any advertising ****e.

And re Wickes, ever been a Wickes store, they have huge amount of cheap low quality products. No amount of advertising will change the quality of products in their stores, only stocking quality products would do that. Advertising you have a "reputation for quality" - BS, make a quality product, and you have a strong reputation. And Homebase has always had cheap tacky products, no advertising will ever change that, and that didn't change because of Wickes advertising.

RE M&S, the advertising has no impact, we buy a small amount of food there, because the quality is very good, not because of the advertising, do we buy clothes there because of the quality of the food, or the food advertising, NO, because the quality of the clothes is poor.

For what my opinion is worth, as I've said before, really like Pauls badge design.
Simple but effective and a look forward to the future instead of a look back to the past.

Hope the club do sit up and take notice of a very professional presentation.

Slightly going away from the badge discussion but linked to branding.......watching BBC Breakfast this morning and around 7:45 they have a slot where the News presentation is discussed with input from viewers, a bit like "points of view" for those of us old enough to remember that programme. Anyway some viewers complained about Mourinio's sacking being the lead news item on whatever day he was sacked. A BBC News Editor was interviewed and said that the reason it was given so much air time reflected the Chelsea "brand" and that this was a news story that would interest people all over the world because of this "brand", the same would have happened if it was Man Utd or City because they too are "brands" and people follow these globally.

So there you have it basically an admission that 3 top football sides are of more importance due to their brands than say the EU discussions in Brussels about migration and the BREXIT.......

Still think DT's creation is top notch........

Well respect your views and you are right re M&S a bit
They have loads of outlets now using garages etc yet still only just match the profit John Lewis does

John Lewis has stuck steadfast with its branding and ideals
M&S had to rebrand as they were sinking

So it's all illusion and a greedy race to improve market share and it does need continuous work and drive

Homebase once commanded and how we look at them today is really about brand and how we look at them. just think what it was like before DIY superstores ?

A football club I agree should just be about football but sadly it isn't and any brand that doesn't push will fall and just be left with a static fan base

Every QPR fan in the world today has his weekend made or broken by the result. I agree that is the base

But to get into the top tier and get 35,000 home fans each week is the aim ... Brand will play a part in that

On the money look how how our own image was accelerated in the press over the last few years. It didn't end well. I read the Metro and Standard too and fro work and we get a lot of column inches compared to Palace and Charlton, Millwall Brentford etc
But no where near the likes of Chelsea Spurs or Arsenal

If the owners are truly serious about the plans for the club we have to aim high

Watch the hammers grow now
They take out full page ads just for fixtures and are set to become very big globally IMO

When you have clubs in London like we have I believe all of them will be branded correctly I know Pakace will be next because Parrish used to own who I work for before DHL brought him out

It's open season now and will only get worse QPR if it wants in will need massive branding investment

Cheers Staines have a great Xmas

Thanks fella, same to you and yours. Hope it's a good one for you.

Tell me, would you mind if I pass on your contact details to my eldest lad who is finishing his degree course next year and might be looking at a career in your chosen field ? I think from your experience you might be someone who can point him in the right direction.

IMO i think this is going to be beyond the financial reach of TF and maybe this is when he needs to look at selling his share to those who have the serious money and can afford to undertake this investment. If TF is still in charge at the start of next season then it would say that as a club we are going to be competing against the likes of Fulham, Brentford et al for publicity even though we may all be in different divisions in the years to come......

No problem Staines
Where is his Uni
I can tell him how not to do it
Copy a old fart like me

I agree but have always said that there will be a queue of other investors for QPR
City have had to throw what a billion at it? And still I am guessing 500 Man U shirts are sold worldwide to Cities 1 . West Ham I think will be next
Trendy side of the smoke currently and Spurs in a potential static period until they expand

It's not going to stop so QPR will need to decide quickly

Palace look where they are now ?
Lose their stigma of being second tier
They could make Europe on the pitch have a solid fan base and now big money
