In the 1930s Manchester City were the Champions and got relegated the following year.
When TWS were champions they were the only champions in history not to win a single away game.

They're doing well at the minute, but why in gods name would anyone turn down a move to Man Utd, City, even Chelsea?

When was this? The White ****e have won the league three times and I just checked and they won a number of away games in each season.

I believe he meant the following season (92/93), when they were the current title holders.
Worst finish by defending champions in the PL era (even though they didn't win the PL).
Cheers for the many compliemts - as you might expect we are loving life in football terms right now..
Football is about dreams and that's where we are right now - and it's just great

What do you reckon will happen in Jan then, with the wealth of your owners and you being in a once in a lifetime position it makes sense to try and consolidate your position with some quality signings. You won't have a better opportunity of attracting the quality of players that you will in Jan. Obviously there will be the pitfalls on investing too much, the wrong sorts of players, too many players, players to unsettle the squad etc, but if you could bring in say 3 quality players then I reckon you would honestly have a chance of at least pushing for a top 4 place, which would be an extraordinary achievement.
Thanks for clearing that up. As usual BumChinnedCrab was very imprecise in his language.

It's a difficult one ... additions might upset the current team ethic and camraderie - which has been great ... but we could do with strengthening further ... for me a quality right back and central defender are the most obvious ... (mainly because Wes and Huth won't go the whole season without a yellow card ban)
We are already being linked with a cut price Nigel de Jong plus Hector Carillo - both quality players and not currently getting a look in at their respective clubs ... but would hey damage the team ethos as alluded to.
All I can say is that it is a pretty nice dilemma ...ie much preferrable to the one we were facing this time last season![]()
How was it imprecise to say 'when they were champions?' I dont understand how that can taken any other way than, erm, 'when they were champions'.
If you has said 'defending' champions then there would have been no confusion.
It wont be us with Bruce in charge in the same way as they wouldn't be where they are with Pearson in charge ( he and Bruce are form the same 0-0, 1-0 is a good result mentality ) and he still would have been if it hand;t been for his sons shenanigans. They've only spent £23 million and recouped £9 million. If you look at their team man for man, with one or two exceptions we would stand up to them, Pearson as he did here did some fantastic things in the transfer market unlike our glorious leader. What their new manager has given them is freedom and belief, something that is not be instilled in our football team and all the time Bruce is here, we will have the same served up.If, and it's still a big if, they end up in the top 4 at the end of the season, I reckon it'll be the greatest achievement in the history of the Premier League era.
No doubt the size of their squad will be the determining factor.
It's bloody refreshing the "Big 6" are being challenged this season.
Maybe us one day...

Who are the champions of the Premier League?
If we'd had this same conversation at this time last season, who wouldve been champions?
