That's football, ****e isn't it. Focus the thread on Leicester, they really aren't. They are were they are because they've earned it, now is the time for that bit of well served luck and calm, confident heads. They'll do it in style.
I still love the fact that not only is it Leicester's title to lose, but that the team that could pip them isn't one of the so-called 'Big 4' either. Also, West Ham finishing 4th above the Manchester clubs would be near perfection.
I listen to the soccer channel on Sirius satellite radio quite a bit. A good portion of the programming features British pundits. These are not British shows merely being rebroadcast in the USA, but British shows produced for USA audiences. There is an ongoing theme of what to do to improve football, especially English football. They seem to think that the Premier League is inferior to some of the other European top flight leagues because of how their representative clubs perform in Champions League. I don't think that tells all of the story, nor does merely counting the number of different champions over a common period of time. La Liga may be considered the best league in the world, but is it really something to be emulated. How compelling is a league where one of two clubs will win the league 9 out of 10 years running? I think it is more fun to follow leagues like the BPL and Serie A where there is good competition top to (near) bottom. I suspect the Premier League is winning more fans around the world this season than most.
Also for me the Championship is one of the best & I can't believe a broadcaster such as itv hasn't tried to get that to show live football. One of the best leagues that's not a top flight league in the World IMO!
I agree. Truthfully, most of my fellow Yanks don't know much about Championship. Those who have become fans of the Premier League seldom adopt clubs which would ever be in danger of regulation (Chelsea? ;-) ). My first exposure to Championship was when Hull City were relegated after the dismal end to the 2009-10 season. I was amazed to see in the subsequent years how competitive top-to-bottom Championship can be. I still followed Championship when Hull was back in the Prem the past couple of seasons. It is quite a feat to win this league!
