Just listening to Kevinshite Kilblane on 5 Live, and, as with all Everton games, the conversation turned to Liverpool. Now I'm really not arsed about Moreno's disallowed goal yesterday - it happens, get over it. But the ex-Toffee opined that Moreno only scored as he heard the whistle and so knew it wouldn't count.
Have watched it now several times. The flag does indeed go up, and the defender (not the goalie, who attempts to save it) sees the flag. The whistle doesn't - who plays to the flag? Did Kilblane when he trundled around the pitch? As said, it was disallowed and that's that, but let's not re-write history that the only reason Moreno scored was that the game had stopped. It hadn't, and the game was still live until the ref blew his whistle -after the ball went in.
