Maybe, but it had **** all to do with everyone stopping because the whistle had gone. It hadn't, and if they were playing to the flag they damn well shouldn't have been. The goalie wasn't, and the defender wouldn't have got to him anyway.

I agree that the flag didn't affect the nearest defender or the keeper, I thought you meant that he was saying that Moreno knew the flag was up and there was therefore no pressure on him. Which might have been right had it not been a miscued cross....
No, I'm trying to say the chasm between 1st and 6th in the same league is nowhere near as great as 3rd in the top league (when there was 22 teams in it) and 6th in the league below. It's a maths thing, you wouldn't understand.

United failed to qualify for the last 16 after a 3-2 defeat at Wolfsburg.
Van Gaal said reaching the group stage, progressing further in the Capital One Cup and sitting fourth in the Premier League showed their improvement.
