Why would QPR or Foolham be a step up from Birmingham?
Do Birmingham supporters see us and the Ruperts as being bigger, better etc?

On being linked into Fulham3.33 into the interview, being linked “is a sign of success”
“2 excellent jobs, 2 big jobs… but I’m extremely focussed… did I bat that off well enough ha ha ha”

He clearly wants to progress on to the next rung. He is the best realistic option out there, if we approach them then we can pay Birmingham to buy him out of the contract. Its my understanding that a football manager can resign at any time but a player obviously cant. So what will happen is we will buy him out of his contract and because he is on low wages compensation due will be a low amount.
Where are you getting this rule from that they can stand in his way? In any case, if a manager makes it clear he would like to go then in reality his job is so tainted they have to let him go because it will harm the team. But whats the worse case scenario, we approach Birmingham it doesn’t happen we stay with Colin and look for next best available
On a par with Colin the eyebrow less pensioner (no offence to pensioners intended, I will be joining your ranks as soon as my bank balance allows)No but Clarence the cross eyed lion is!
He's gone to Griffin Park: http://www.westlondonsport.com/brentford/brentford-confirm-appointment-of-walsall-boss-smithI read earlier that Walsall Manager Dean Smith was in the frame
OK, thanks for that, Chris Powell it is then! He's gone to Griffin Park: http://www.westlondonsport.com/brentford/brentford-confirm-appointment-of-walsall-boss-smith

Sorry about that Hoops - surely(!) the board can see that Chris Powell is not up to the job? In a way I understand the thinking behind JFH/Smith/Karl Robinson as young, up & coming managers who have had some success at League 1 level & have something to prove at a higher level (obviously Robinson is currently in the Championship with MK) but I think Powell had his 15 minutes getting Charlton promoted from League 1 in 2012 - he never moved up to the next level while managing in the Championship. His tenure at Huddersfield was on a par with Ramsey's time with us. It's a really difficult call - do we go for a recognised Championship manager (to try persuade Neil to stay/go all out for Pearson or Rodgers) or do we go for something different, possibly for the future? I think we all know that Clement was Tony's dream manager but Derby had/have a bigger cheque book - who else is out there? Personally I'll be very disappointed if the board appoint Powell....OK, thanks for that, Chris Powell it is then!

Look, I think Gary Rowlett would be an excellent appointment if we could get him, but you have not shown at all that he has stated that he would leave Birmingham. Basically, what you quoted is that his being linked is a sign of sucess for him at Birmingham. I'm sure he would like to talk to us, but that can only take place if Birmingham give him permission.
Secondly, I am not quoting any "rule". It is part of company law that a contract can forbid an employee from leaving & joining a competitor. Do I rthink this would be in his current contract? NO. Do I think Birmingham would try to enforce any stipulation rather than be paid compensation? NO
However, if Birmingham were to refuse us permision to speak to Rowlett, then by the rules of the Football Association we can't speak to him. That would not prevent him resigning if he wished, but it would make it very messy.
Whatever you feel, Birmingham City FC, would have a say in the matter!
Why leave the blues???????
