I'm quite happy to discuss religion. Religious people aren't though. Which is the problem.
Religion is evil. It was created by evil men for the sole purpose of control and power. Mankind has been duped for millennia. It's sad, in the past 100 years we have proven almost every aspect of religion to be fabricated. The history they peddle, the tall tales, everything.

No man. Religion is a man made system that is used for the benefit of the few by creating an atmosphere of fear.
The people, well they are individuals, each believing a slightly different version. The vast majority of apparently religious people ignore the vast majority of the rules their religion states they must live by.
Because most people recognise just how ridiculous the books are and how dangerous the text can become. AsI said, the fact its so open to interpretation is the issue. Unlike law, which is in no way open to interpretation, religions texts demand you live as told, following rules that were thought up 1000s of years ago for people who were, and no offense people of the distant past, but they were morons. Uneducated fools scared by stories.
Saying religion is pure eveil was probably wrong. The concept is evil and most of those high up the system are rarely nice. The pope and Vatican for example.
Sorry can't. They hypocrisy is suggesting people should try and change peoples views on religion is up there with the very best.
Ask yourself, how did religion get such a firm foothold? It wasn't through a few opinions being exchanged. It was through force, ramming their ideology down the throats of anyone who got in the way.
Parents target children before they can think for themselves. Imagine you started grooming kids to be Tories or Lib Dems from a few months old, having dodgy rituals etc.

Its not, no religion is about peace.
You may not like it, but it's called freedom - freedom of choice. That's what democracy is all about, for all its faults.
Most parents imbue their kids with some of their own credo. It's what parents do. Ultimately, most kids will learn, grow from exposure to other opinion, and form their own beliefs.
First its not bollocks. I even included the Muhammed Biographer who wrote it. He slaughtered an entire jewish tribe because they insulted Islam (remind you of anything, seem familiar?). He also banished two others.
Muhammeds idea of peace was to invade, conquered, push Islam on the natives and offer incentives such as no taxes for Muslims but all other faiths are taxed.
Peioke had to pay Muslims just to enjoy the same rights. This is all detailed in the qaran, hadith and Islamic history.
They were not tolerant. Seriously, try and tax Muslims more than we pay in this country just because they are Muslims, or the Polish. Infavt let's tax everyone whonisnt a United fan like we are.

The fact is all claims of how great Islam was and is comes from within Islam. Not outside. Same with all religion. Except budism which people mistakenly believe to be different....
Those who weren't Muslim were second class citizens under Muhammeds rule and rule for centuries afterwards. Its all there.
Its rarely a choice. Especially in ME Islamic beliefs. The culture of honour makes it very hard for an individual to renounce Islam.
Some hard-line Christians will shun family members who are gay or choose to drop their faith. Its just how it is for many.
Religion doesn't offer freedom. Why should it be afforded the same ideals that it's designed to destroy? The freedom to choose. Who you love, where you live, how you live, who you live with, how you die, what you eat, who your friends are etc....
If religion had the control it did have, you wouldbt want to be gay, following the wrong religion (changes on a annual basis), female, mentally ill, a child, an elder, injured, maimed, too intelligent, not intelligent enough, foreign... Unless the same religion.

I think you're missing my point, I've said that all parents imbue their children with their own beliefs, or credo. Only when these kids grow do those who are of sufficient intellect form their own opinions and beliefs.
Anyway, as I've bashed religion a little too much I just want to say that hating someone due to their religion is like hating someone because of their political allegiance or what club they support.

Religion wasn't created with control and power as its driver. It's been manipulated throughout history for that ultimate purpose, but it's creation has always been about mans inability to accept his own mortality.
I go along with this. The thought of being worm food when your time comes is difficult to accept so the concepts of heaven, hell etc are comforting to some people. Who knows what awaits, if anything, on the "other side".
The older I get the more I struggle to take religion seriously. Terrible things happen to good people. Fantastic things happen to vile people. What kind of god is overseeing that?
I see that as pre religion. When people believed in things like the sun and moon etc. It exists within organised religion of course, its religions biggest appeal to the normal person after all, but I see the primary driving force as power.
What motivates people to form part of its hierarchy for their own gain, isn't the same as why it ultimately exists.
True. Most who follow religion don't follow the men who lead it but the ideology itself.
