I mentioned this yesterday, and Cameron's response was 'don't let this be a substitute for military action' It's clear where his priorities lie
Yeah the way he is talking confirms he is 100% certain that's what's going to happen. No fence sitting at all
He's been pushing for Air Strikes since April this year. The Paris Attacks have given him the wind in his sails to push it through parliament. What is worrying is that he said he would go ahead even without the UN security council backing
Expand on that. Bcos afaik Arabs arent just muslims, there are Arab jews. Those two groups have co-existed for centuries prior to the 20th.
Very emotive subject. And this is just an internet forum. No surprise in the real world we're going to hell in a handcart.
There history is littered with conflict. prophet Muhammed slaughtered Jews, its probably not the best way to start things with your neighbours. Guess it builds resentment.
The issue is nobody is willing to take either sides opinion. Everyone believes they are right and nobody's willing to concede.
Like I said, expand on this. I want to see this litter of conflict. I know the christian and muslims have been at each other for centuries but not jews in the middle-east.
No I think there are plenty. But as in the real world, it's the minority of angry ppl that get the limelight.
I have no doubt the middle east would be just as bad of not worse had the US/Nato not invaded over a decade ago. Feel free to show periods of peace in the middle east though.
Was that to me? If so, I literally have no idea how it relates to what I said. Fwiw the US/Nato didnt just impact on the middle east only a decade ago. Surely you know this?
I don't think this site has enough space to detail the history of Jewish and Islamic relations. However it stared badly, has a history of Islamic aggression through the centuries (you will recall the many Islamic empires the world has seen and suffered, people like to forget this and concentrate on how white Christians made their empires). All 3 religions have been at each others throats since year dot. You don't really believe all these issues started in first half of the 20th century though and exploded into life due to the formation of Israel, do you?
No, not at you. Anyone who can show periods of peace in the ME feel free to do so. I've found little evidence and even when there was peace, it was through use of fear, or bribery. I was referring to Isis. We've been in and out of the middle east for the past few centuries. There's a tendancy for many to blame everything happening now of US and NATO action in the past decade. Then again had we never gone over, it would still do a place of war and suffering. People would however be complaining that we stood by and watched.
Too late now... But after WWII the Jewish state should have been built in Alaska instead of the middle east. Plenty of uninhabited land there. The US could have protected them easier and no one wanting to kill them there.
All I've asked is for examples of these conflicts between arab muslims and arab jews in the middle-east, that's all. The rest is all rhetoric. I cant think of any examples that offer more than a footnote compared to the major conflicts between muslims and christians. And yes, the unilateral creation of Israel through the Balfour debacle, AS WELL AS the creation of many of the countries in greater arabia with random borders drawn up at the whim of an ignorant British Empire, irrespective of tribal and/or religious boundaries, WAS the primary source of the mess that, that whole region is in.
There isn't. When something cannot be criticised then a discussion can not be had. Religion is all but off limits. People immediately assume its a personal attack on them when in fact, its an attack on the religion, a choice. Religion should be something discussed like politics.
Feel free to show me periods of peace in England or Europe during the same period, and in fact even before?
But as I've said before you dont want to discuss religion. You consider it as evil and you want everyone to accept that. When you approach everything from that default position, you're the one shutting down discussion as much as those you're criticising.
I've already given one example, right at the birth of Islam. The tribal religious boundaries are a major reason for all the problems. Loads of small, tribal groups governing themselves and each having their own rules and practices gives many, many reasons for conflict.
