Only option for Herrera would be carrick off at half time and leave bastian to sit in front of the back four and see what happens.. Rooney is playing well for once. I'd leave him on. He looks like he is going to score.

That's a fair shout, they don't look like scoring so why not (kiss of death right there)

EDIT: It'll be Fellaini though I bet <laugh>

On for who though?

Mata playing well, Rooney playing well. Lingard causing problems for us and them with having a bad first touch.
Do we need two holding midfielders against this lot? To be fair Bastian doesn't think so.

I'd be surprised to see Lingard come out for the 2nd half. He looks very nervous on the ball. Maybe he feels under too much pressure to have a stormer to keep his place!

Lingard has played well, his final ball is a bit ****, and his first touch let him down when he got into a decent position.

Is depay on the bench?

Herrera for Carrick and Memphis for Lingard would be my first two sub's. 10 mins or so into the second.

That's the United way now get used to it. City 3-1 up

Mmmm that might be a bit harsh, only 1 defeat in 15 games including Europe and domestic.

I meant as a threat going forward. I also feel Herrera's passing and vision is much quicker and more cutting edge. If we've opened up CSKA relatively well at times, we've lacked that precision in the final third. I am sure Herrera would provide that as the AM.

At the moment, everything is from our wide areas, I think we don't have the guile with Rooney as a number 10 to pick that pass. That's not knocking how well he's playing but imo Herrera is just better there, and so is Mata.

They also beat City last season at the Etihad didn't they? They're no push overs but we should be winning this

We should have scores by now.

Replace Lingard with Depay or Pereira. Depay has perfect platform to perform.

The right side of the field is also blank. Young is better on the left but if you bring in Depay, then you can't play Young on left.

I would be inclined to swap Blind with Rojo, we are getting down that left side very well but Rojo can't cross, Blind can.

Can't believe I'm saying this - even if we concede a goal as a result (which could easily happen on the break) it might be worth it to watch this game which is much more entertaining/attacking. At least we are having a go : 73% possession & 8 shots.

I wouldn't be happy if we lost, but I'm enjoying us having a go.

I'd like to see Herrera. On for one of carrick or bastian. Can't decide which. Carrick offers better passing bastian a bit more dynamism.

Then if lingard carries on them him replaced with depay.

Wonder of anyone would be happy if we lost this game but continued to play as we are?
Whilst the build up play has been a vast improvement (LVG finally listening to the genuine fans), 2 shots on target isn't exactly the stuff of dreams so I'm not sure why anyone would be happy to lose playing this football. Hopefully they can put that round thing in between the two white poles things in the second half.

I will gladly stick my neck out and say there isn't a hope in hell of CSKA scoring on the break.

We're still going wide too often. We need a bit of creative spark through that middle to put someone through into a box. They're playing such a high line but go deep when the ball goes wide.
