I can understand on one hand that fans get frustrated when they see a striker who could score an important goal being substituted but on the other hand they don't have the whole picture. Was he going to change the whole system? if he is going to use Fellaini, will he need more crosses? Is it better to sacrifice Martial instead of one of the creative midefielders or one of the players who can supply the crosses - Carrick or Lingard or anyof the other MF? As manager he has to make a decision. We all seem to know better than LVG. I don't pretend to understand LVG or some of his actions. But he must have some logic in what he is doing. And quite rightly if the result goes against him he should be pilloried. But when we do get the right result some here still pillory him. Can I therefore suggest that people wait until we get the next unfavourable result ( a draw or a defeat) which may happen soon enough and then give him the full two barrells Who knows I might even join in.
It wasn't me booing dude, I was merely watching on TV. I really do not like booing and had taken a good deal of pride in that United crowds don't boo so I don't condone it really. As a rule, United crowds don't boo. I hope it doesn't happen again, the crowd made their feelings perfectly clear with the 'attack, attack, attack' and the 'We're man United, we want to attack' chants. Crystal clear. I think that's more reasonable, they pay the cash and want entertainment, they've been spoiled for years but it doesn't make it any easier to take when you're served up boring football. That wasn't the case last night though. Last night was good value I thought, we played well.
Of course I didn't mean you. I meant fans who were there and fans outside too. I feel people are not giving the benefit of the doubt. Like they would Fergie for example when he does something against the consensus. Which he has done many times. But we (in general) give him the benefit fo the doubt and don't boo him..
Exactly. Ferguson had a good deal of credit in the bank. We all know that his teams served up ****e on occasion but he got away with it with very good reason.
Agreed to both comments. He obviously needs to earn that trust but we also need not to go to the other extreme ie if in doubt clobber him
Can only say once more, last night showed promising signs of a more attacking attitude. That is really all I ask. We've got the players to do this, it shouldn't be a problem. A lot has been said about pissing Herrera off and wasting him etc. etc. and I can see this point but surely the long term CM partnership is Schneiderlin and Herrera. They would make a great pair. Plenty more life in Schweinsteiger and Carrick for now, and both were good last night, but looking ahead CM is sewn up, when you consider Blind could also play there.
We need a proper right winger. Last night showed lingard is better at left wing. So now we have young, Memphis and lingard there. On the right wing is where we don't have anyone. Mata is a great player, but he can be hit and miss on too many occasions, plus he's not a right winger and probably won't last a full 90 mins. We need a young player that will come in for mata in the second half and run at defenders especially when they are tired. Great game last night though. If this team has been playing anything close to this for the season most of the fans wouldn't have complained. Not a perfect game, but I can't remember the last time we played an entertaining game as close to what we saw last night.
Everton. We won that one 3-0. The difference was Everton were much more attacking and naive with it, defensively. And then what followed were 4 draws. I really can't get excited over 1 result when I can see the manner of our victory and tactical approach demonstrates as much of a false dawn as it did with Everton. We now have a run of 10 games we really should be expecting to win IF yesterday's performance means anything. If the performance yesterday translates into a good return in those 10 games then I'll be happy. Otherwise yesterday will just be yet another example of pi55ing in the wind.
I doubt you will be happy. Truth be told. You will find something to be unhappy about. Guaranteed. Possible the length of the grass or the position of the fold on the players socks.
Yeh bcos you of all people understand me better than anyone Just be pleased you were able to dress yourself in the morning, and move on
Jokes aren't allowed. Everything written is deadly serious. Like you saying Martial was the new Bellion. Awkward!
Do you think grumblings from the fans and criticism in the media should be the catalyst to a manager changing his team's shape, line up and approach to games or should they be decisions he is able to make independently and sooner? It wouldn't be the first time either. Everyone else could see 5-3-2 wasn't working long before the manager did. His determination to prove that he was right, only to eventually admit that he was wrong, has cost us games and points which isn't really what he's paid for.
Called it Applies just as much again in the performance against Chelsea. Shame LVG still hasnt done the decent thing and walked.
