This is a reasonable formation. Might surprise people!

 

Why will it surprise anyone? He's done what every fan has been begging him to do ever since he put Martial on the left wing (to hone his striker skills) ie play him as a striker. If it works out then it just begs the question as to why he stuck him on the left wing in the first place.

 

Actually it seems it is rooney who is upfront !

 

According to my sky app it's saying Rooney up top mata in behind martial on the left.

 

That is what I was thinking. If Lingard is on the right and Young at right FB then there is nobody for the left if Martial is up top.

 

Sigh.

Well I expect these to be **** so maybe Wazza can put them to the sword like he did with Bruges...

 

I just hope Mata doesn't scuff a shot. It will mean a complete loss of form and be the reason why we're playing like snails

 

Dare I say a reasonable start. Seem to be playing with more intent and at a better tempo.

 

So yeh, Martials up top and Rooney at yen and we are playing well. Rooney the stand out player of the first 15. That ball through to Lingard was almost perfect.

 

These are rubbish. We should put them to the sword, get a few goals and a bit of attacking confidence.

Looks very fluid tbh. Almost...unrestricted

 

This game is ideal for Herrera.

 

Mata and Young orgasmic play there. Shame nobody there to tap it home.

 

Lingard. Great play though

 

On for who though?

Mata playing well, Rooney playing well. Lingard causing problems for us and them with having a bad first touch.

CSKA are pretty poor. Rooney's played well but Herrera's just a better passer and playmaker than Rooney. I've been very impressed with our wide players. With someone like Herrera, the wide men stretch the defence to provide space for our midfield to pass through the middle.
