Good article - not rocket science but correctly emphasising, among other things, the fact that we need centre backs who aren't afraid to put their head to crossed balls in the box. I'm sure we're seeing Warnock's influence already now we're not leaking goals. The question is - in the eyes of the players - is Neil slipping back into his favoured position of manager (even without the title), and is Chris slipping back into his usual position as coach

None of us knows how much influence Warnock has had to date. It's a bit hard on Ramsey to give Warnock the credit for the defensive improvements.

I could see NW suggesting that Clint was put back into the centre of defence - or it could be pure coincidence that we have been shipping about 2 goals a game and Ramsey had run out of ideas, and in the week NW comes back, CR reorganises the defence with Hill and we concede 0 in 2 games.

I have said something similar in another thread but I think our defence is better for having The Chief at RB, thus allowing Clint in at CB. Players have been getting between our CB's to score cos whoever the right sided CB has been has been drifting out to the right hand side cos they don't trust Perch. So a combination of a competent RB (eg. The chief) and the addition of Clint has made for a much stronger and more consistent back 4. Also having Clint's input as a natural leader has kept others from drifting away from where they need to be.

Yes, makes sense particularly the Perch deficiency

Leadership is something we're really been missing this season & imo makes a massive difference to the effort & the way a team plays so hopefully can keep Clint fit & on the pitch as much as possible.

.....and he has previously demonstrated when he needs to be subbed off for fresh legs, or when a change in strategy is required, e.g. Yun on to play as a left wing back.

Warnock on Talksport this morning. He said he's impressed by the coaching staff and they're a great bunch of lads so perhaps we'll see some improvement before too long...

I'm hoping it's just a case of Ramsey being a little out of his depth and Neil will hold his hands as he fill the gaps in his knowledge. A steering hand if you like. (Me coming from, and trying to put, a positive tint on things.)

What a neat way for a pensioner to supplement his income. Better than driving for Uber Tavistock.

Eager to learn: Massimo Luongo (centre) believes Neil Warnock’s experience will help QPR
Neil Warnock's return to Queens Park Rangers raised suspicions that Chris Ramsey’s authority could be undermined.

However, two weeks after his arrival, midfielder Massimo Luongo says the new set-up is working well.

Warnock was sacked by QPR in 2012 just seven months after leading them into the Premier League. He is now back as a part-time advisor to manager Ramsey and it is hoped his experience will help Rangers’ promotion bid with the club winning only two of their last eight Championship games.

Luongo, speaking ahead of tonight’s derby at Brentford, believes the early signs are good.

“He has eased in slowly until the game last Saturday when he had a voice in the changing room,” he said. “He was giving a lot of advice before the game, at half-time and after the game. After the manager spoke, he gave his two cents worth.

“It is good to get a different opinion and his advice is important because he brings a bit of experience. We take it all on board and it is helping. It is offering something else that makes us think a little bit within the squad.

“The manager has his word and then he’ll ask Neil if he has anything to say. It is the same with the rest of the coaching staff. Neil is confident in himself to step up and say a few more words.

“It cannot hurt to have someone with that many promotions on board. Having him around has to be a good thing.”

Brentford have recorded three successive wins and manager Lee Carsley said: “The players have been outstanding in the way they have conducted themselves and in their appetite for work. They are now reaping the rewards.”

Saw that article in the Standard tonight whilst on the train to Brentford - very surprised to hear Warnock has been in the dressing room before, during and after games. Seems he's more involved than we all thought.

Yep, sounds like more than just an advisory role. What happens when they don't agree? NW is hardly one to keep his opinions to himself!

It's exactly what I expect him to be doing, it's what he's best at.

As long as Warnock is on topic and doesn't contradict or undermine Ramsey then it's not a bad set up.......

Then what's the point of him, if he's just an aging northern echo? If he's in the dressing room during matches they might as well get rid of Ramsey now, or demote him to coach.
