I am reliably informed that Basso is our last first team signing for this window and that Ayala is unfortunately, not coming to us. Chester and Hobbs will be our first choice centre back pairing, with McShambles as cover.
Not what Phil Buckingham was saying nor NP. BUT AYALA IS INJURED AT THE MOMENT. Thats why there is a delay on that. If Ayala aint fit by 31st August, then City will have to wait until HE IS and the loan window open on 8th sept. For now City are OK as Kilbane can also play centre half if needed. Then again, is the injury Ayala has a long term one.? I can well see the comments on here if Ayala comes to City and is out for a long period of time. We shall have to wait and see. Patience as always.
Kilbane at center half scares me more than the thought of being locked in a room with 100 gay rapists and a few cannibals.
Was Nige on the radio last night? Are we interested in Ayala then? I thought it was just speculation.
not sure if thats a smart move. although its great to know Chester will be in the starting 11, having only macca for CB & RB cover is only asking for trouble. say chester, hobbs or rosenior gets injured or red carded, macca comes into the side and we have zero cover in those positions.
We'll just bring in loans. Not bothered about Ayala. Not sure why everyone keeps going on about him either. No-one official has mentioned him for ages.
Not quite true, in addition to having a recall option on Cooper, we have Bradley at centre back, East at right back and Townsend at left back, I think they could all do a job if required.
I don't think the CB position is really a problem, we have a few players who can cover or have at least played there in the past. McShane, Dudgeon, Kilbane and don't we have a recall option on Cooper at some point too.
We only have a recall option for Cooper in January, so if we need another centre half, I think we'll bring one in on loan.
I was thinking about the prospect of Bradley getting a few first team games. Seems solid enough when I've seen him on a couple of occassions. Shame about Ayala, he would have been one of the best centre halves in the division, but it could mean there's a chance for Bradley and East if there's a shortage of defenders
Every time I've seen Killer fill in at centre back he's been solid...possibly the best game I've seen him have was at centre back against Bolton! As far as Ayala is concerned he does seem to be injured an awful lot.
