Well I am going so hopefully we'll see a turnaround in performance levels ,commitment and mainly a decent team selection which includes Siggy and Ki .The whole side needs shaking up ,drop Gomis & Shelvey ( just to get his mind refocused )and play Ayew up front , rest Taylor and give Tabanou a game then we'll find out what all the fuss is about , quicken the pace of the game with Leon back in ,instead of watching every ball moved like it was a lead weight lets see some sharpness about us .The trouble is who to play instead of Barrow (who at present is impact player only )

I'm expecting 3 points because we cannot be this bad Saturday. We NEED to win this weekend imo.

Whatever happens monks job is as safe as houses. If you sack a manager every time we go through a bad patch this early in the season then we will end up doing a Leeds who were sacking managers every time they had a few bad results. now look at them struggling at the bottom of the championship. You dont sack a manager who has 10 points from 9 games you stick with him in the hope he can improve which he will. If it was the end of the season then that is a different story but not after 9 games where we are averaging just over a point a game......monk will not be in huws thoughts at all and is not close to getting the sack at this stage of the season...

Not this early in the season i can assure you.....there is no reason to even contemplate sacking monk after all the good work he is doing....

Hopefully the brother v brother contest between the Ayew brothers can help us lift our game. We really need 3 points here. Ash will need to be up for it from minute one against Gestede, he was sloppy against Stoke and his lack-lustre start probably cost us the game.

I think it's harsh to blame Ash's start for the reason why we lost the game. It was Cork's terrible back header that gave Stoke a 3-on-2 and had the whole team back-pedalling. I think we expect so much of Ash - but every now and again a defender will beat him. Had Cork judged the flight of the ball better, not let it bounced, or just headed the bouncing ball properly, there wouldn't have even been a dilemma - I'm sure Cork will have been the one to put his hand up for blame when they walked into the dressing room at half time. If I'd been on that pitch, I would have expected him to have apologised.

That aside - you're right, Ash should be up for it, back in his neck of the woods 'n' all. Seven of my mates are heading up there so I hope we play better than we have done - but a good omen is that whenever we've done a lads away day, we've won every one. There we go...I've jinxed it now. <doh>

No I don't ,do you ?
Yes.....He had our best season ever last season, He started this season where he left off and had great reviews from everyone, we are only 9 games in and we have 10 points in the bag and we have had two international breaks that seen a lot of our key players playing for their international teams all over the world and you expect them to come back and slot back in as if they haven't been away. Ki never started because of fatigue with all the traveling and monk was right not to start him. He played Barrow who was not up to scratch and monty who could not get into the way we play. There are many valid reasons why we have not played well and monk has a hard job to pick a side that are 100% back to club football......Getting on monks back after all that is just plain stupid, you or me could not do it so why complain after just 9 games played. Monk has done a fantastic job and even the very best managers go through a bad patch and it's usually circumstances that causes the team to lose form for a short time.......Monk will get the players up to scratch given a bit of time........

"He had our best season ever".

WRONG - AGAIN - but don't let the FACTS,a word you overuse hereabouts, get in your way.

Toshack's first season in the Old Division One eclipses it.

"Had great reviews from everyone".

This one I really love. <laugh> In reality, quite meaningless.

"There are many valid reasons why we have not played well..."

It's a pity you couldn't have been so magnanimous with Laudrup.

Double,nay triple standards,pollute your post.

Eder and Tabanou , combined , cost us 8.5 million.Eder and Tabanou probably , combined, don't have 90 minutes so far this season.Previous managers would have killed to get 8.5 million for summer transfers period. We got Michu , Chico , Poz and Vorm under 6 million and played a huge part to what I consider our best season .Rodgers spent less than that the first season and we had a great season.During those first few seasons everyone wanted to be us , and now we merely became them. Its clear to me that Monk has been given the best tools to run a team , but previous managers were just better mechanics with cheap tools.I hope Garry can get this turned around , but am a bit worried because with the players we have , we should be nowhere near relegation in the standings. The Villa game is a must win for Monk , I believe his job is on the line with this game

Reports that Monk was absent from training had to be refuted by the club posting a training photo on thwir their twitter feed.
Adds more importance and pressure to the game v Villa.

I don't think it's quite on the line just yet but it's bloody close. Fully agree with everything else though.
