Could be wrong but I believe it's to stop the defence forcing the attacking player on to the post and risking injury. With that rule in place the defence will force the attacker away from the post.

France going out in a big way, not unexpected though, just Ireland and Scotland left for the UK, France could get hammered if not careful, cricket score on the cards..........<ok>

Looking forward to this Ireland Vs Argentina game. Now that Wales are out, after a heroic performance against the Springboks, wouldn't mind seeing either of these teams go all the way.

Argentina absolutely demolishing Ireland in every aspect of the game. 20-3 to Argentina after 20 mins.

Lucky, we don't want to be associated with people who get battered by Argentina like this <whistle>

This is a great game. 23-20 to Argentina now. Ireland have the momentum to go onto win at the moment though, but Argentina still look incredibly dangerous when they have the ball.

As much as I dislike Argentina as a country - they have been fantastic in this match.

    Its been great to watch!

I've not watched much of this world cup but I've thoroughly enjoyed this game. the Argies ran the ball wonderfully well in the first half then the Irish came back brilliantly. it could have gone either way after 65 minutes then the Pumas scored another couple of wonderful tries.

great advert for the game <ok>

Well played the Argies. We just had too many big players missing to match them over 80 minutes.

Think the France game took too much out of us.

It also shows how far the Northern Hemisphere teams are behind the rugby championship teams. Wales are the only team to have matched a rugby championship team so far this tournament, and we couldn't do enough to get a result in our favour. Ireland, Scotland, France & England have been battered by 20+ points by SH teams.
