Hurri Kane was brilliant. Pure genius. Like a cross between Jimmy Greaves and Martin (the ghost) Peters, but younger. The only bad bit was listening to David effing Pleat as co-commentator droning on about the colour of laces, or summat.

We never do it when it counts - friendlies are meaningless and I am sure we will do okay in the upcoming 4 games but when it comes to the tournament I won't be holding my breath.

i guess so. england's all-time leading scorer has been disappointingly ineffective when it mattered most.

Sound professional performance from the squad players and newbies. 10/10 and Job done.

Now the proper games follow on starting in November with SPAIN away friday 12th and FRANCE @ wembley on tuesday 17th.

They aren't proper games, their meaningless friendlies right in the middle of the season, another boring break in football, the proper games start next summer!

Compared to the 10 group games they ARE proper games against proper countries.

Certainly a step up in class no matter whatever the line-ups are.

I could just go no they're not, but you'd just come back & go yes they are.
The usual thing that happens is players pull out & there is supposedly a chance to experiment with new players, but then it's basically a recycled bunch of players that come in that won't be going to the Euros next year, there might be the odd kid thrown in, but likely not. Some big clubs will complain when their players go back with an injury, the press will then ramble on about how they are meaningless. Then....
