Colback deserves all the abuse he'll get now

Sunderland posters generally said that he was average, not shyte.

The Newcastle supporters would've turned on Colback by now if he hadn't been a Geordie and they hadn't made such a fuss when he signed.

Now they're tolerating him because they don't want to be seen with egg on their faces imo.

He only played an average of 25 games a season, from memory, many of which were at left back.

We're now signing players that make him forgettable and I doubt he'll get that much stick in the derby next month.

He's just not someone to get excited about ..........

Is there not a wee bit of bitterness with some of these comments lads?
So do you think he's a top player or an average one (as we've said)?
Would you rather have Colback or Yann M'Vila in your central midfield (if you answer Colback then you truly are deluded)?
He wouldn't make our squad as a central midfielder. We may put him on the bench to cover left back as we are short in that position - but in his first choice position at your place he wouldn't make our squad as we have better players to play there!

Consider if you`d got him from a different club.

a). Gone to a bigger club, dream come true, boyhood support, the usual guff.
b). Bigged up. Ginger Pirlo. Yeah right.
c). An integral part of a team which went on a monumental plummet and a last gasp escape from relegation.
d). Might be a bit of a dud but what the hell, you got him for nothing.
e). Still an integral part of the team and bottom of the league.
f). Still a bit of a dud but you have nobody better.

None of the above would change if you`d got him from somewhere else.

I think you have bigger worries than our opinion of him. Of course there was bitterness but not any more. After all, we don`t like turncoats any more than you do.

Like I intimated, there's a lot of bitterness towards the lad. Bitterness is a strong emotion.
And like we answered, not bitter and we gave reasons for our assessment of him - it's not like he turned us down for you without us seeing him play. Which opinion do you disagree with or will you avoid that question as it makes you look foolish

Funny thing is I was a bit disappointed when he left for nowt, especially to the Mags.

But now the only reason he'd even get into our match day squad is to cover PVA at left back.

He's a plodder, no more. He'll be scraping round the bottom of the PL for the rest of his career if he's lucky.

I was narked he went for nowt, but it's not looking so bad right now. He's workmanlike and unspectacular, but is certainly not as bad as he's being painted. He's gone; we're over it; NUFC are bottom. We're only second bottom, so whoopee-do!

Not from me, I was annoyed we didn't get money for him but he was never a favourite of mine.
At long last we're bringing in more dynamic and attacking minded midfield players.
Colback was reliable but predictable and you didn't know he was on the pitch most of the time.

I never heard anyone shout 'Give it to Colback' .......

How is reiterating the things we said at the time when many mags are coming around to the same thinking Bitter? I'm just saying I'm right. What with seeing the lad come through our youth system and try to break the first team. But you lot knew better after two or three games <doh><laugh>

So by definition, you believe that your entire squad of midfielders are all individually above average players?
