Would going out of the CL in the group stage be such a bad thing?

I been thinking about this since last night, and I am not sure that going out of the CL in the group stage would even be that bad of an outcome, embarrassing yes. We are not going to finish first in this group, because Bayern are on a different planet, so best we can hope for is second and we all know what happens when you finish second. We draw a big team and then get dumped out, actually last season even Monaco knocked us out.

Now if we finish third, we go into the Europa league and this might be a joke competition to most of the people in England, but it's still a ****ing European trophy and as a club we have not won many of those in our history. Finishing fourth means no more European games post December and if we manage to stay in touch in the league, the less games we have means we will have a better chance to win the PL. Winning the CL is just not going to happen because the likes of Barca, Real Madrid, Bayern and PSG are just way ahead of us. But the league this season is not completely out of our reach, Man Utd are on a similar level to us, Chelse have been shocking, so that leaves City, who I believe are an Aguero injury away from re-joining the pack.

The title might just be on because the competition is nowhere near the same level as in the CL, so the less games we have the better our chances of winning the PL becomes.

Just a realist. Here's a stat for you, no team who has ever lost their opening group game in the CL has gone on to win the competition. CL is beyond us, for some reason this season in particular, I do not feel the same about the PL, so yes I do have a losers attitude for thinking we might actually have a chance to win the league. <doh>

Unfortunately the one with the loser attitude is our manager.

Fans are now just becoming depressed realists until her packs his bags.

Wenger may or not have a loser attitude. Bur someone not wanting arsenal to win every match they compete in has a loser attitude sport is about competing to the best of your ability

There is no 'may' about it. Wenger has a loser attitude.
That's not really what Sanj is saying though is it
As meaningless as a platitude can be

<doh> How can a manager who has won as much as Wenger have a 'loser' attitude ? Sure he has his faults, but that is just a stupid thing to say.

As for the Europa League, whilst it would be embarrassing to go out of the CL, I'd still want us to try and win the Europa league. As Sanj says it's still a European Trophy and whilst it doesn't have the Kudos of the CL, it would still be a welcome addition to our honours list.

I don't want Arsenal to lose but they have very little chance of winning the CL trophy, we simply aren't good enough at the moment and need a minimum of 2 players - CF and DM. I'd rather we concentrate on the league as it's a more realistic chance of winning a big trophy.

I get what Sanj is saying, it feels like we're making up numbers at the moment and its frustrating as we were never this bad in the CL. But the Europa has too many games for us to play and with our fragile squad, I wouldn't want them to start dropping like flies and impact our league form. For me the league should be priority.

One thing Wenger doesn't have is a loser mentality. But he can be accused of is stubbornness and of being deluded.

Big financial repercussions to getting knocked out obviously. Read somewhere it cost united just shy of £50m when it happened to them which was offset by their ridiculous marketing power. For everyone who bemoans us not buying players I think this'd be used as an excuse not to buy for another 10 years at least!

LOL, it's come to that now? Talking about winning the Europa League, that is so bloody hilarious, LOL and I remember 2 years back you said when money comes available things will change bla bla bla, and now you're talking about the possibility of winning the Europa League, funniest **** I have ever seen.

I'm not even thinking of that tournament, unlike you. But again, as I said, hilarious, that it's come to that, talking about possibly winning the Europa League, the insurance excuse card is already out, and the bar and standard is already being lowered.

It shows the absolute desperate lengths you Wenger supporters will go to to excuse his failures in getting us to the top, that you will lower your standards just to excuse him. So now it's yeah we suck in the UCL and we will probably get knocked out of the group stage,,,,,But hey let's go for the Europa League.

Just like how we suck at winning the league, so you Wenger supporters again lowered your standards and constantly tout about how great it is to just keep making top 4 (something no other 'supposedly' major club would brag about). The standards just keep getting lower and lower.

I thought we were supposed to be going up once we moved to the Emirates and money became available? So we moved into the Emirates to compete and win the Europa League? What happened to all that great juicy stuff you were going on about before?

More hilarious is when Chelski won the Europa League you same Wenger supporters scoffed at that being 'only the Europa League' bla bla, but now with Arsenal, oh hell ****ing yeah the Europa League people, you won't celebrate if we win it?! Let's go for it!

The Europa League is where the teams who aren't good enough go, simple as that, if you're happy at winning a B-class tournament, which is devoid of top teams because they're playing in the A-league, then hey, go ahead and be happy.

Nah bla bla is what comes out of you, every week it's a different tune for you, to excuse your lord and saviour Wenger. Go fantasise about winning the Europa League....When Chelsea won it, it's only the Europa League, lol, and now? It's the greatest thing on earth for you.

Jeez, the stupidity is staggering. Where did I say I did not want us to win every game? My point is I can't for the life of me see how we have any real or even an outside chance of winning the CL, so it's just a waste of time and games.
