Potential to be high maintenance but good goal scoring record - apart from at Derby. He is 31 so age factor may go against him but likely to be much cheaper in terms of fee than Goodwillie, without the latter's potential for absence in the short term. I don't think we would need Miller, Goodwillie and earnie as all similar types.

I'm on the positive side for this if it comes off.

He has been good at scoring in the past, has a good record it's true.
Word is he is desperate to get back to the UK.
I guess it depends on the pennies we have to pay him as we have been this route before.
If he puts on the shirt and gives 100% he'll have our full support, just not sure its a good move.

PS: BFB I did see you mentioned it on another Article before I put this up but thought it deserved an article of its own.

Did he not completely flop somewhere?

Is that why he ended up in Turkey?

I am not excited about Miller. His best records are in the SPL not the English League and the SPL is generally about the standard of L1. Would much rather the potential of Goodwillie :)

If we did sign him he would be 3rd/4th pecking order, he's 31 and going back to the SPL would be best for him, not proven in the English tier so it's a big no.:emoticon-0149-no: lets push the boat out for Bellers and goodwillie if he's not being a badwillie. <doh>

Last week it was all about going back to Rangers: http://m.skysports.com/article/football/7033068

Not going to get too worried about this one based on the sources quoted...

As a side issue, interesting that he wrapped up the SPL golden boot in half a season last year:
Miller, 31, has more than 50 international caps and was top scorer in the Scottish Premier League with 21 goals last season, even though he left Rangers for Bursaspor in January.

The two Scottish strikers at least score goals, finding the back of the net seems beyond some premiership strikers these days. Malkay is playing the numbers game, keep costs down and get the numbers up.

The transfer fund is being held back specifically should we conclude a deal for Bellamy as we cannot expect Tan to pay for this a second season regarding wages.

Once the position with Bellamy is known we will work from there.

Malkay says we have two players for every position in defence so will look to add to our midfield and attack.

Considering the situation that Malkay took over we can be far more positive he can produce a team that will deliver and certainly will not put up with some shoddy performances from players not giving 100% for the cause.

It is going to be interesting seeing this new team play for the first time in the championship.

We hold our breath and pray Bellamy sits tight and calls Man City`s bluff.

Looks like Rangers are head to head with us for Goodwillie and Miller we will probably share them out between us ;)
£2 million for potential that comes with baggage
£500K for a 31 yr old that hasn't set the world on fire lately

Tough call

<applause>

Seems as MM have been dealing with free transfers, apart from Joe mason, I have the feeling he's waiting for the window of opportunity to get the cheque book out. <ok>

Not overly impressed with Miller tbh. Didn't he flop at Wolves? The Turks are (apparently) asking for more than they paid so not a good deal. Got to be someone better out there.

So it seems the only place he flopped really was at Derby (and lets not forget that Derby were a real powerhouse that season!):

Senior career*
Years Team Apps† (Gls)†
1998–2000 Hibernian 45 (12)
1998–1999 → Stenhousemuir (loan) 11 (8)
2000–2001 Rangers 30 (8)
2001 → Wolverhampton (loan) 5 (2)
2001–2006 Wolverhampton 162 (50)
2006–2007 Celtic 33 (7)
2007–2008 Derby County 30 (4)
2008–2011 Rangers 81 (49)
2011– Bursaspor 15 (5)
Total 412 (145)

...now who would want a player that flopped at Derby that year???

Anyone care to hazard a guess at who's record this is below:

Senior career*
Years Team Apps† (Gls)†
1998–2004 Cardiff City 205 (105)
2000 → Greenock Morton (loan) 3 (2)
2004–2006 West Bromwich Albion 43 (12)
2006–2007 Norwich City 45 (29)
2007–2008 Derby County 22 (1)
2008–2011 Nottingham Forest 102 (38)
2011– Cardiff City 0 (0)
