Steve Bruce .. Very Good manager , Top 6 or not this season should be given 3 seasons. Every chance of becoming our Best manager ever given time ...
Nigel Pearson said on football focus he regrets how he left Hull which has left some animosity between him and the club
He could do the same thing as a few managers in recent years: take us up, raise expactations and then get sacked for not keeping us there. In a way making his job less secure by getting promoted because expectations rise and likelihood of getting battered rises.
If we go up, the chances of us becoming an established premiership team are slim but if we become a yo-yo club like West Brom did for years, it gives thr club the chance to grow and become financially stable. I hope that we do get promoted but the chances of relegation from the premier league would be very high and I would hope that Bruce would keep his job regardless of relegation. Stability is the key.
Agree completely, but for some reason it happens. Nigel Adkins is rumoured to be the latest victim of his own success.
I fully agree that is the way to build a stronger financial club, and you might go up and down a couple of times, before you can really expect to establish yourself as a EPL club. I thought Burnley had started to do that, but they just don't seem to have built on there time in the EPL, seems a lot of the money they made has evaporated.
Ive said the very same thing today on the other Bruce thread regarding Maloney and Diomande. Are injuries just becoming, yet again, an excuse for poor performances? He seems to have created yet further problems now down our right side as Elmo and Dave is obviously not working, they're clearly not a partnership, so what does he do, drop one of our most consistent attacking threats in Elmo or one of his latest big money signings? My guess would be neither, he'll continue to hope that our right side attack will come good yet there are absolutely no signs of this. Our left side attacking midfield has fallen to pieces with the Maloney injury, the apparent lack of faith in Robertson, and the inexperience at this level of Clucas. The central midfield has never worked for as long as Bruce has been here, it seems that he's currently hoping that Diame is going to perform a miracle in there, alongside a consistently under performing Huddlestone, an inconsistent Meyler and an Arsenal youngster who doesn't look ready at times. That's a tough job for a returning Diame! So there we have it, Steve Bruce, over three years in the job, a fortune spent, and still a ****ed up midfield that struggles to break teams down. Is there any wonder that in most games we struggle to score goals!
Good post. Although the beans were spilled by Steve Harper on additional reasons we don't score goals. #BruceOut
We did little or no work on the training pitch involving the final third of the pitch, if memory serves me well.
As a player Steve Bruce only played in the final third for set pieces. How can anyone expect him to coach an attacking team when his knowledge of forward play is so limited. He should be a decent defensive manager and is thanks to the backward and sideways football he insists on playing. As we've mentioned before, stop the wing backs and you've stopped Hull City. Negative tactics = negative results. He who dares wins. He who doesn't, doesn't.
Caught Sunderland's game earlier today. Now there's a team with no fight and spirit. They had no desire to get forward.
