Glad to have got the first prediction of the day hopelessly wrong! I've always thought Naismith was underrated.
Stroke of luck having Besic injured so early on. Disappointed my Desmond didn't come in as it looked on but seeing Chelsea lose is always fun
The last time the Chavs started a season this badly, they finished 14th while we finished 3rd. Can we heave a repeat of that please?
Liverpool and Manchester United are the only Premier League sides to play today and not to hit a shot on target in the first half. (BBC Football Live commentary) It's good to see the world's so-called "greatest fixture" living up to its name!
I knew we should have gotten Marcial. One minute after a goal of the year candidate from Bentecke. Very satisfying for Man U, though a bit of a ragged effort. Liverpool were absolutely awful till the very end, when they started trying to play football and Bentecke had a worldie. Comedy miss from Firminho that gets funnier each time I see it. Another case where if he hadn’t been busy waving his hand in the air a moment earlier he might have had the composure to meet the ball with his foot and send it into the the net from three feet away. A̱part from Man City being good, the the PL has been more completely random than anything else. Swansea looked next best to City through four games, then lose to Watford.
Yeah, but the second half stats must be good. 3 excellent goals and a well taken pen. It did live up to the hype in the second half.
I must admit to being confused by the rules on the Bentecke goal. Yes it's a wonderful strike, and of course compared to the Rooney effort (apparently the 'gold standard') when in fact it's better. However, in any other part of the field that is a free kick for dangerous play isn't it? He could easily have kicked the defender's head instead of the ball! So is there different rules for dangerous play in the penalty area? Also thinking that a bit like last season, LvG had a bit of luck when he was forced to change his original team due to injury (last season injury and suspension), Young came on and got a free kick leading to their first goal. It seems that when he has lots of options his teams don't work!
I've not seen a slo-mo of the free kick, but it looked very theatrical and unnatural to me. Same old Young?
Clyne places his arm across Young's chest and plainly impedes him. In what circumstances would that not be a foul?
The laws of physics: if Clyne is impeding him, because of his forward momentum he would fall forwards - but instead he falls backwards, which is not possible.
"The laws of physics: if Clyne is impeding him, because of his forward momentum he would fall forwards - but instead he falls backwards, which is not possible." Will HT analysis have a physics expert who will draw up the resulting vector on the screen ??
