I fully agree with you there mate, I am on his side at the moment because I think I can see what he is trying to achieve (fast, solid 4-3-3 team) but if it doesn't start to show by Christmas I will begin to doubt his methods. He has spent a lot of money (which was much needed) to completely overhaul the squad and now has to show the thinking behind his moves is right.
Because you need to see improvement and a direction, I believe (just my opinion) that Klopp would give you that. If fans see what their team/manager is trying to do they will be a lot more forgiving than if they are left wondering wtf is going on.
Yup. If he doesn't get top four because you've high expectations about your club due to more recent sucess there will be increasing clamour sooner. I just think getting rid of BR and getting in Klopp won't be the miracle cure because we are having to reverse a larger longer decline in standards. It also doesn't mean BR will turn out to be the right man either. Which is why he's had his time and money and this is the year to judge him on.
I just don't want us to get into a habit of saying it's not working with this manager, oh look he's done well, let's have him! There will always be some fans who won't be convinced with the new guy and will be more impatient and call for his head sooner. Not that I think that's what Jimmy is doing because it's been three years after all.
Called it perfect here Rodgers doesnt plan well he reacts and when something sticks he will stick with that until he gets a pasting. That was fine with SAS. ... a decent run last year too in 343.... then when it gets found out we go back to really struggling and he flounders about hoping something happens for him. His reaction at half time v west ham having been found out was not to resolve the obvious but to throw the kitchen sink at the issue at hand and it was really badly thought out. 3 at the back v 1 guy???? All he needed was gomez off for moreno. And probably then Ings for Lucas as they were sitting back but both of those stayed on until the game was well toast.
Not really because he got us the closest we've ever got to the premier league title. You could say he's been reasonably successful whilst being hampered by the transfer committee.
same spot as rafa in the end... i'd say shed loads of money and no trophy. kenny won one with adam in the team....
Shouldn't his asst o Driscoll take some blame there as well, if not why the **** do we have him uselesscunt like pascoe!! I know Rodgers has made some odd calls but those round him don't seem to be helping, unless he has surrounded himself by yes people to give his ego a boost as they will never tell him he is wrong
Liverpool team is the worst I've seen in years, says Harry Redknapp in attack on 'bang-average' men from Merseyside Lucky to have any point. Harry Redknapp LUCKY TO HAVE ANY POINT. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...rry-Redknapp-blasts-Brendan-Rodgers-side.html
But why not? We do the same with players? What's wrong with wanting better for the club? This whole the grass isn't always greener cries lack of ambition IMO. It's as if we';re happy with Rodgers and providing excuses for his failure - he lost Suarez, Sturridge is injured, the transfer committee are sh*t, he doesn't have enough money to compete. If it's clearly not working with this manager, then why persist? 3 years of mediocrity (bar 13/14) is simply not good enough. Conceding 2-3 goals against mid table teams is now becoming the norm and heavy defeats are no longer a rarity. Why does Rodgers deserve a chance? What has he shown that deserves more money and faith? Will he always live off the back of 13/14? Can he only ever be successful if he has SAS? Getting rid of Rafa is arguable the worst decision this club has made because since then, we've replaced him with poor, mid table managers (bar Kenny but he was was out of touch with the modern game).
Surprised no one in that coaching set up realises Sakho is better than Lovren. But then again, SOD is probably grateful for being at LFC and Mac is grateful for having a coaching job full stop given his lack of experience and credentials.
There were two posts in a row there which made context but only one suited your argument. Three years of mediocrity well errr...except that one where we nearly won the league so that's only two years really then isn't it? but it doesn't count, it was a fluke I mean Kenny formed SAS didn't he oh wait that was BRbut he must must have won it in a raffle right??? Didn't people say we shouldn't look at Rafas past accomplishments when judging the present. Same with Kenny? Mediocrity? First year when he came in and one where he failed to cope with losing his two best players (one of which may come back)? He's now bought more in but as you admit, you had him written off last year so why keep pretending youre judging? You've made up your mind. Heavy defeats the norm? This year? One With 4 games played...ffs. Actually, are you not the one who whinges about players not being given enough chance? So to reframe your own question, it's bad to do it to players but not to managers or maybe it's OK to do it to the one you don't like eh? He deserves the time because that's the targets he set and was hired on the basis of. Nearly winning the league suggests there's something there; maybe a fluke but let's find out eh? And as for anti grass is greener being a sign of mediocrity? I point you to my post directly beside the one you quoted: this is judgement year by his own time. If he doesnt do well he should be removed because he failed his own commitment. What about that says happy with mediocrity??? And then you say sacking Rafa was a mistake..well some would and did make the exact same argument's as you did above as reason to get rid of him. Which proves my very point. There's always a section of fans that will be impatient or not like a managers style and want rid during slumps. .so why should you be listened to by the club or those that recognise we aren't this winning club of days gone by and it's going to take quite a bit to make us that again but not the fans that said the same about Rafa, or Kenny? Your example is the very definition of the dangers of grass is not always greener. You're now so anti BR you're twisting your own arguments in messy knots. So to shorten this all down. The OP (me) asks since BR set the target himself should we not judge him on this year? Well you obviously said no, have him already judged and now every one of your posts simply sounds like a "BR out" campaign rather than a conversation or exchange of opinions. It's a demand repeated over and over with a bit of twisting to pretend its a conversation. Lighten up mate he's here this year. Repeating I want him out over and over is not going to change that. Only his performance or lack of this year will do that.
So now two guys who have only been at the club for 5 minutes are getting thrown off the cliff as well?
And the poll results above suggests (because I think most people went with what they want rather than FSG) that the fan Base isn't that divided about accepting mediocrity vs wanting to win. With over 70% thinking he has to do much better or go it suggests this is his year to be judged. To be fair I didn't put an option of "get the boot no matter what" if a Mod wants to add one in the interests of fairness please do.
Heavy defeats - lost to City and United 3-0 last season, lost 4-0 to Arsenal, 3-1 Palace, 6-1 Stoke, 3-0 West Ham. All over the past 12 months. And Rodgers himself said they had a 3 year plan. He's had 3 years and still failed to get us into Top 4. And I do push for players to be given a chance if they deserve it. But players rarely get 3 years to prove themselves at a club.
But for the sake of the OP and to appease fans such as yourself, what does Rodgers need to do in order to survive: - Show some balls. He's completely gone into his shell and is not the manager he once was. He's become a reactive manager who appears to have changed his whole ethos of the game. Go back to what he did before which was passing and possession. Stay true to it and make it work. At least show us that you have an idea/plan of how you to want to play in the long run. - Drop the internal politics and use the players at your disposal. There is a very good squad of players here already. - Win a lot of games. - Bring in EXPERIENCED staff to help him coach.
Three year plan. Yes he's had his three years so this is exam year. Again Jim my if you'd read the other post you'd see me stating that I didn't think you were being kneejerk as he's had three years. I just don't see the point in constantly and increasingly stating he should leave. He's not leaving unless he does badly this year so...... Wouldn't call United City and Arsenal mid table clubs by the way.
