I think FSG will settle for 5th if the team plays well.
Not sure how long this season they will give him though.
You guys need another striker of the ilk of Suarez but there aren't many out there.

  6. Okay, as there ever been a time when every fan as agreed 100% on what the club is doing? I'm not about one particular moment (ei, winning the title), I'm talking about how we play over say five or six games, maybe more.

Football is a game of opinions and everyone has one. the fans have never been and never will be in complete unison. Personally, I'd like us to play attacking football and win every game 5-4 but Jimmy would hate it. I think he'd still complain if we won all thirty-eight league games by that score <laugh>

Sure its good to have a majority backing, but that's not what was said.

Sure. He ran away before he'd risk tarnishing the rep with another poor season. Take a look at Arsenal's fans a few years after not winning the league to see what he would have had in store for him if he'd stayed.."divided fan base"

Ah, so we ignore the fact that he got them back on track and base the perceived fan reaction on an 11 year stint at Arsenal. Got it <ok>

Not what I said at all. It's a personal preference of character. If he is our next manager, comes in and does the same and wins us a couple of leagues I'll be more than happy with him. If he then leaves because he has to rebuild I'll not consider him a "legend" because the truly greats rebuild successfully. Your great manager for example. It's that doubt about his character that would make me wonder what happens if he doesn't do it in the first three years. Remember he left Mainz because he couldn't get them promoted again after one year....

It's the same with Mourinho. Others will call him great because he moves from club to club and wins trophies but he's yet to stay around and rebuild a side. So I won't call him great.

At least Arsene did it and then kept trying.

Klopp has rebuilt (three times) after having his best players sold out from under his nose. He would have been fine last year if two more of his best players weren't injured for most of the first three months. I thought he left Mainz for a better job same as most people?
Mourinho will never be among the greats because he doesn't have the strength of character to see a job through if times get hard. You cant accuse Klopp of this, he didn't walk because he wasn't given endless money, he walked because they kept ripping his team apart.

That's not the reason the man himself gave. Very early days but they've won their first three games by a margin haven't they?

Anyway, the original point was about if the entire fan base would stay united behind him if he had continued to fail. My example of Arsenal was to show how failure even after a period of success will turn some of the fan base.

And as I also said our fan base has been split with each of the last few managers once they faltered. Why would he be any different?

In fact yours has been the same. Tete are already some who while preferring VG to Moyes aren't convinced he's "right"
