Let's say, as some media outlets are suggesting, that Levy offered £25million. Peace may have wanted £30million, but you cannot say that the offer was derisory. And what is going to happen now? Unless another club comes in with a better offer, Levy will get him for £25million in the January window, because Peace cannot afford to let Berahino get into the last year of his contract, which will happen by the time next Summer's window comes around.

However, as I just pointed out, Peace's stance was that Berahino wasn't for sale, full stop. Realistically, he should have accepted that the players head was elsewhere and tried to screw Levy for as much as possible.

Personally, I think he might be gambling that somebody like Utd will be desperate for a striker in Jan, and pay silly money. But, of course, Utd never do that.

If Levy had offered something stupid like, say, £60m upfront, few of us would doubt that Peace would have accepted it; but, then, everyone, especially Spurs fans, would have said that we'd been mugged-off and that Levy had been an idiot! That didn't happen. We believe that a figure of around £25 million was offered. Whether that's a fair price or not doesn't really come into it. It's certain not a "derisory" offer, as you said. Peace didn't accept it, and WBA now have a player that has stated on Twitter that he won't play for WBA. Perhaps Peace (and WBA fans) are happy with that outcome? I don't know.

My advice to Berahino would be to apologise to the chairman and the club, and buckle down, but make it absolutely clear to the chairman that he intends to join Spurs after his contract ends. Peace, then, with have to make up his mind whether to sell the player in the January window, for the price that Levy wants to pay, or to leave it until the Summer windown, when Berahino will be into the last year of his contract.

I'd be happy with either outcome.

Are you even reading? Half of the stuff you just wrote I haven't argued with any of, in fact I've agreed with it, also I explained in my last the post the use of the word 'derisory' and why I placed it in inverted commas which you seemed to have ignored.

In the first post I responded to you said it was a choice of 2 things, I proposed a 3rd outcome which you dismissed (though I offered up evidence in Schneiderlin, and you later provided another in Modric) I was challenging the whole 'if a player wants to leave, there's no point trying to keep hold of him' and the 'let him go to the club of his choice for the price that the other club is prepared to pay'.

No it's because Levy and Lewis are businessmen and they like a profit. Spurs invest relatively little money in players, more often than not they trade off the back of money they've accrued from sales. Lewis is a multi billionaire but has never shown much interest in gambling any of his money on Spurs in the way Roman has on Chelsea.

Along with the new TV package and financial packages for PL clubs do WBA have to sell? I'd say no. Do they want a big payday for a player who wants out then yes and I think they'll still get that in Jan whilst pissing of the little twat in the process and making a statement that they wont be taken for a mug or be dictated to by a player under contract.
