I remember Reed saying that they have an eye on players and are ready to sign them if the chance arose, even if we didn't quite need them at the time. Something about not missing out if the player was right for Saints. See no reason why we wouldn't sign Toby and VVD...especially as Toby can also play more forward. Fonte cannot play for ever.

I really like Yoshida, but he isn't the type of CB we need. We need one much more confident on the ball so we can keep control of possession. VvD is that man - whether FMstats say so or not!
Listening to 5live on the way home from work and they talked about the VVD signing. Chris Sutton and their Scottish reporter described Virgil as languid and a player who is "economical in effort" - So from a negative viewpoint he needs a boot up the backside every now and again. From a positive view, he is not easily phased and a cool customer.
