Q1) which club is the only club in Europe's top five leagues to not have signed an outfield player this transfer window?
Looks like Heathrow Airport are trolling us for our lack of transfer activity.... https://twitter.com/HeathrowAirport?ref_src=twsrc^tfw please log in to view this image
Gordon Bennett, this years transfer window is really boring. We need Arry out of his car window to rescue this one.... please log in to view this image
I'm a bit torn. On one hand, I'm completely dumbfounded by some of these prices. They're all inflated, no matter which area of the market you look - Martial for £36m, Glenn Murray for £5m, Charlie Austin being given a £15m fee. I think we're sensible not to get sucked into this ridiculous market place. On the other hand, we do not have a good enough team to compete for the league so either a) Wenger believes that we do or b) he isn't even targetting it. We also shouldn't have left it this late anyway. We should have had another offensive signing before our first game of the season.
Wenger has gone far enough now to be labelled an embarrassment. Summer 2015 for Arsenal is arguably the worst transfer of any top flight club ever under the circumstances. #Bestmanforthejob
What an absolute farce. Utterly ludicrous transfer window. What is the point of having money if we're going to do **** all with it?
Now that the transfer window is officially closed, we can now get back to football. Let's see if this team is as good as what Wenger thinks it is. Its his team that he's built up and with a generous transfer kitty to boot for a few years. No time for excuses, lets see what he and his team can do!
The window has now closed and there's **** all we can do about it. It's now time to get behind the team we all love p.s. That's not to say I'm as disappointed as the next fan with this window
Yup, no excuses now. The only way Wenger justifies his decision to not sign anyone is to prove it with the players he currently has. And that means we had better be ****ing close to the top of the table for the rest of the season because there's no way we're going to sign anyone in January. Certainly not up front at least. If Wenger truly believes in this side and that they are capable of competing in Europe and in the league, then it's on him to prove us all wrong. I think he underestimates just how much pressure he will be under from the fans if we falter again. Because this year he genuinely had absolutely no excuses whatsoever to not get anyone. None at all. We're the only side in Europe's top 5 leagues to not sign an outfield player. The only justification for that is if you believe that what you have is good enough and can't be topped.
We've seen what his teams can do. We saw it last year, and the year before that and the year before that. And the answer is the same thing every year. Top 4. That's it. But don't worry... there's no excuses anymore. Until we sign no-one in summer 2016 and then 2016/17 will the year when he has to prove himself and have no excuses. Until we sign no-one in summer 2017 and then 2017/18 will be the year and we have no excuses. There's never any excuses until we need to excuse him for one more season. Shambles. Support the club, not the manager. He's in for a frosty reception at the emirates I feel in the next match and the moment we don't win a game there's going to be some boos. And whilst that's not productive, he will only have brought on himself.
From the AST: So another frustrating transfer window shuts with Arsenal sitting on huge financial resources despite there being a widely held view squad additions were needed. The AST would like the club to review its scouting and playing purchasing arrangements. If they believe all is well they should reflect on what the point is of a football club. If Arsenal run for the benefit of supporters - why does the Club sit on huge cash piles year after year? Whether it needs to be spent on the team is a matter of opinion. If the opinion of the manager is that it doesn't, and the board back him, so be it. However, give the money back to the supporters in lower ticket prices and other benefits Pretty valid I think?
