If they did, then yes, but we're not privy to such information so how are we meant to know any better? And even in that situation, what's to say other clubs wouldn't also be informed about said player being available? It's not as if we'd be the only ones on red alert. So whichever way you look at it, I still maintain that it's still a big risk to wait, in my opinion. We will have to agree to disagree about Giroud because I really don't think he's that good. That's not to say that he hasn't been useful at times, but there are a number of players who I feel would be better at spearheading our attack. His hold up play is massively exaggerated, I've seen him miscontrol the ball plenty of times and he's not that hard to defend against. His finishing ability is inconsistent, as shown against Newcastle and Liverpool. Also, I don't think your last paragraph is right. I don't think we would be so dependent one player scoring because we have players willing to run into the box from midfield and have players who are willing to shoot from range e.g. Sanchez, Oxlade-Chamberlain. This wasn't the case when we had RvP in his last season with us, he was our only good finisher and we have way more options now going forward. Not only was he our best finisher, he also created the most chances in our team that season by a distance. We now have other options with players who can create from the middle. We are capable of creating plenty of chances now, we just don't take them. That's where a mobile striker would come in handy rather than the lacklustre Olivier.
I would. They only dropped off, when they had one hand on the title and we as usual played well when the pressure was off and yet they still finished 12 points above us. Chelsea started the season slowly, but for some reason they also started pre-season later than most teams, so that might be a factor in their slow start, and plus they have one or two players out of form, but by buying the likes of Pedro and Rahman they have at least attempted to refresh their squad, while we have again stood still.
Giroud is one of those underwhelming players that look better than they are when in a good attacking system. Just stop and think, if Giroud left Arsenal now, which Prem teams could he get into? Which foreign teams would be after his signature? The sad reality is no top Euro teams would be going for him. He is just a better looking and more stable version of Bendtner.
Giroud at his best is nothing more than a squad player for any team that is looking to win a title, just staggering that Wenger has let another transfer window pass without upgrading on Giroud.
Funny thing is Wenger feels the same but has to defend playing him game after game because they've failed to buy anyone quality since RVP left.
