  1. "We had a young bench - I think we need a child minder on there! - but we have got some really promising players filling in for a few injured guys."
(Aaron Cresswell, post-match interview, 'Pool v Spanners)

Yeah, my feeling is that the Dad's Army bunch who are currently injured probably are going to get past the little kiddies who you've just taken the piss out of, sunshine, so I'd start showing them a little bit more respect, if I was you.

  3. Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany says his club will have a "dangerous" player if they complete the signing of Belgium midfielder Kevin de Bruyne, 24, from Wolfsburg. (Sky Sports)

Stoke City have quite a few of those, too!

It doesn't fit the media's narrative that Jose Mourinho is the best thing since G-d created woman.

1-0 to Southampton at HT, with Norwich reduced to 10 men on the half-hour.
Is it just me or has discipline taken something of a hit this season? Lots of reds and most of them are correct.

On the sending off for two yellow cards at the time of the second yellow a Saint's player rushed toward the referee waving an imaginary card
A low life act that I thought in the PL was itself punished with a yellow
If not then it should be

Gomis scores again. The Swansea fans that disagreed with me about him being good enough to replace Bony are now quite pleased with the panther.

Swansea are a quality team, no shame in losing to them (if that is the result).

Swansea are the team I believed had the potential to overtake us this season, early days of course but as the season progresses we will see these type of results more often, such as Swansea/Palace winning against the big clubs, while we won't finish 5th with the type of performances we showed last season.

When was the last time Rooney looked like a top player?

United's results have been reasonably decent so far this season, but their performances have been awful.
Van Gaal had to be given some leeway in the last campaign, as it was his first in England and the squad needed work.
They've spent a ****load since he arrived though, so their dour style and the inevitable fallback to hoofing it to Fellaini simply isn't good enough.

Swansea are almost the complete opposite. An inexperienced manager, lost a number of big players and yet play well and get results.
They've tried to stick with an attractive, attacking style, regardless of who's in charge and it appears to be paying dividends.
    Good luck to them.

Well I'm off to eat some humble pie over Garry Monk. Fair play to the guy for doing a good job since he took over. I thought he would be out of his depth, he isn't.

I thought at first they made a mistake sacking Laudrup but their chairman understands who is right for their club, the right fit. Swansea are lucky in that respect, having football people run the club.

When he played alongside an in-form Van Persie. Rooney is a classic 'British' centre forward in every sense of the word, usually relying on brute strength and sheer work rate to get the ball in the back of the net. He's like Shearer with a better range of passing but not as good in the air or on the turn.

He's always flourished when playing next to a partner with some real craft and technical nous - and Utd have provided the likes of Ronaldo, Berbatov, Tevez and Van Persie to fill that role and bring the best out of Rooney.

One of the reasons he's so cack for England is that playing alongside the likes of Crouch, Heskey, Carroll and Lambert is never going to bring the best out of him. He will constantly drift deep to pick up the ball in zones where he has more time and space to make decisions. And salivating pundits will drool over it as showing 'tactical maturity' when in reality he just lacks the skill and flair to truly lead the line on his own.

Anyway, United are there for the taking. For all the criticism of Poch in here I for one am so glad we avoided LVag as he looks utterly, utterly clueless and would've bankrupted our club by now with the amount pissed up the wall on overrated dross.

But taking nothing away from Swansea they are a quality side. Gomis and Ayew would've been perfect for our team. Ho hum.

They cost a grand total of £0. We were linked with both, too.
