A large section of our fans have been calling for the Allams to sell up and leave, so perhaps the strategy is to recoup some money to reduce the club debt, thus making the club a more saleable prospect to satisfy that section of the fanbase? Surely none of the fans clamouring for the exit of the Allams will object to this firesale and lack of reinvestment?

I genuinely believe that Dawson wants to stay and help us get promoted again feeling that he is in some part responsible for the relegation. On top of that he has said some passionate things about the club and there is also the family ties to the club.

I aren't completely naive and wouldn't doubt his head will be turned if a Premier League club in for him. I wouldn't blame him if a club like Newcastle, Everton, Villa, Stoke came in for him. But if his options are the likes of Bournemouth, Watford or Sunderland then I'd take my chances until January and see what position we are in then.

Gutted that it's all irrelevant because these buy out clauses have us bent over a barrel.

I thought I saw where you are coming from but then it went awry. There certainly is a groundswell on two fronts; new owners and new manager. But you write about new owners and the clamour for it to happen. You may have a point about recouping money, as others have said just that, but really, is it that simple?

Personally I think the fire-sale idea is a crock of the proverbial. So what is going on then? My best guess is a level of arrogance and ineptitude that would leave a sane business in a deep state of disbelief. An essential covering of a very poor corporate arse. A realisation that their so-called rationalisation of the business concepts of the football industry must extend beyond rhetoric and bluster. In other words, the emperor and the heir-apparent have always worn clothes, some of us always saw them and some failed to, but never-mind, here they are:

But where are new owners coming from? Can't see anyone paying the price Allam would want while we are in the championship

I liked your post because of the trust involved. I think you are wrong, though. Dawson would welcome a call back to the PL and away from this madness. I don't think he is blaming himself for relegation anymore than I am; perhaps he might blame others? If he doesn't move it will be because no-one comes for him with a sensible offer.

Would anyone be upset if a big chunk of our oncoming funds had gone to lowering the debt to Allamhouse?

If be more than happy if that was the case.

    The bloke's allergic to grass.

    Couldn't score in a brothel.

Barn door / banjo conglomeration tends towards zero.

    And he's French.

    You get the picture.

How many brothels have you been in that have a set of goal posts inside?

Maloney will be unveiled tomorrow. If not tomorrow. I really can't see this deal happening!

He played really well against us in the 4-1 home defeat and scored against us in the 3-0 home defeat the season after, both times I went into the game thinking he was ****e and both times he played well. I'd take him.

I have read quite a bit about our goalkeepers and Vito Mannone (transfer gossip) as a replacement and I have not really understood much of the thinking.

I recall the blunders of Jakupovic, but really, does anyone, at any price, not get some leeway? I know he is not top drawer (do we pay him top drawer wages?), but how would you rate him against Alan McGregor?

Alan McGregor is a flawed talent. He is one hell of a shot-stopper, but his peripheral awareness is now shown to be unreliable; especially in important games (are there any unimportant games?). But seriously, is it as bad as the bandwagon is making out? Is Bruce losing confidence in him or himself?

The big questions are can we afford better and can we find them?

I think knee-jerk reactions can destroy a goalkeeper; the fans can get on his back more directly than any other player on the pitch. Sometimes, but not always, I have seen a decent goalkeeper sacrificed to a manager’s defensive frailties.

I would persevere with McGregor (we can spend our coin better, or we could have done!); yes, he has frustrated me, but the embarrassing ****-up of the conceded goal was an aberration I would never expect to see again – it will have focussed him. We had Myhill and Duke against the very best and this board waxed lyrical on their abilities and I recall asking if we could afford better – we haven’t have we?

But back to Vito Mannone and my point; I have deliberately not dug back into the facts of it all, I am relying on my memory – honestly, I am. Was he really so indifferent? I recall a goalkeeper we all (ish) wanted, we loved his attacking release of the ball, we loved his confidence, we loved the fact that he seemed to give us everything that two lads we liked did not.

We didn’t keep him, he went to Sunderland (eventually) and Sunderland kept him on the bench and then he came on as a sub – against us as **** happens – and he played a blinder, then another and then another and so it went. Sunderland loved him – I know because I live there. Then he has a mare, a real bad game, a goalies worse nightmare, he lost the confidence of his manager and he then lost his own confidence. Sunderland supporters did what they tend to do, when they stay long enough to form an opinion. Did he suddenly turn into a bad goalkeeper or did he simply need a bit of space and support to recapture his previous quality?
I would have Vito Mannone back tomorrow, but I would also play Jak and Greggs. We give forwards so much more sympathy, I think managers should be far stronger in supporting goalkeepers, as they, especially, should realise that they often pick up the pieces of piss-poor midfields and defences.

Hernandez took forever to be unveiled because of the paperwork, the club clearly has precedent in not unveiling players even once medical and terms are agreed.

Well said that man. Keeper's mistakes are highlighted because they're often more costly than other players, the other stuff they do is pretty much expected and it isn't really fair. Both the goalkeepers we have in this team are good enough for this division, but if we want to be pushing on, we should sign another one because I believe you need three keepers in a squad.

I've heard we're getting a new keeper in Mannone, a new midfielder in Maloney, a new striker Arouna Kone and as manager Simeone.

Here's hoping Malcom and Eddie Healey.

Although I'm not in the I hate the Allams and think they are the cause of everything bad in the world.

The Allams are both the best and worst owners we have ever had.
