It's a Tuesday night,league 2 York City visiting...I love these nights,reminders of the old vetch...I'm also taking my grandson to watch his first ever live football match, so a special night,....but who will play?nord felt,rangel, amat, barkley, tabanou,leon,grimes maybe ki,routledge, dyer and eder..still a side strong
enough to get us to the 3rd round....or does anyone think we'll play a much different side?

hope Leon plays and captains the side. Think your line up is pretty spot on to what we should go with. Would be nice to see Eder get a goal or two. Hope your grandson enjoys, it'll be a game he never forgets!

It's a simple option to play the entire "2nd XI" especially with Man Utd coming on Sunday. The way it often works though is that three or four "1st XI" players will start just to give the team some stability. You could bet your house that Nordfeldt will start but who else is anyones's guess. We don't want to risk going out at the first hurdle as this should be a targetted trophy again this season. I think I would try:

York City boss Russ Wilcox could rotate his squad for Tuesday night’s Capital One Cup trip to Swansea.
Wilcox felt his side looked tired during a 0-0 draw at Exeter this afternoon and might now rest certain players for the second round tie.
Defender Stephane Zubar will definitely be ruled out after twisting his knee in the St James Park turf, but others might also sit out the Liberty Stadium test with Wilcox reasoning that next weekend’s league meeting with Mansfield should be prioritised.
“Recharging for Tuesday night is going to be so difficult on the back of two long journeys and it’s a worry," he said. "We had eight hours on the road the day before this game and it took us three hours just to get to Doncaster.
“We’ve also played five matches in 14 days now and I thought we looked dead on our feet. Some of our lads are absolutely wiped out and, when fatigue comes into play, you can pick up injuries so, whilst I want to put out my strongest team and Swansea’s a great arena to play in, the bigger picture is we don’t want to lose players and I would prefer to win against Mansfield.
“I’m sure everybody will want to play but I’ve got to do what’s best for the football club and, in the long-term, the league is more important. “

Nothing is given in football but it wont be much of a spectacle if their going to put out a few kids (no disrespect meant to York ) . although moaning about having to travel 3 hours to Doncaster ,its not like they have to walk .Never mind it's a another chance to watch the fringe players have a run out with members of the family who don't normally attend .

Siggy may or may not need a goal ,that's open to debate ,he's been just as effective this season imo in his defensive duties and that sometimes gets missed. He breaks down the majority of play before the opposition attack has a chance to develop so he may not be scoring goals but he's instrumental in stopping the opposition scoring which is as equally important

We have to start to trust in ourselves and what we're trying to achieve with our academy by selecting a blend of squad, bench and academy players.

This is the perfect game to put some spark into the progression of our young players and blood them at the same time. I dont expect any starters, except for Ki for obvious reasons, in the match day squad.

I'm looking forward to seeing Tabanou for the first time with Eder starting too. Eder looked keen and eager to get involved in both cameos appearances and hopeful he can bag a goal, while Tabanou has a shot like a canon which I'd love to see.

My bench would include: Vickers, Fulton, Shehan, Biabi and ...... ?????

I forgot about Tremmel who should make the bench ahead of Vickers

I'm not knocking his work rate which is excellent btw but this season he's been sloppy in possession and seems to lack confidence going forward which is uncharacteristic for him. It's obvious something isn't working for him going forward, either formation or confidence I don't know. That's why I suggested he plays against a reported weakened league 2 team to Pissibally get him back to the confident player we know and expect.

Ki has to play having sat out a couple of games as we need him match fit for Man utd as he usually has a good game against them. We have enough in the squad to rest all the main players against york. I cant see more than 10k turning up to watch a low key game all the same....

I genuinely think that side alone could survive in the premiership. We have got some real strength in depth right now (could maybe do with another striker) but the majority of those players have had us finishing mid table in this league.

Some call the Capital One Cup a Mickey Mouse competition but I disagree. Whist survival is important in the Premier League it is also important for progress to try and win a trophy. It is also important for lower League clubs to gain income. I am looking forward to tonight's game and hope that Eder, Nordvelt and Tabanou at least get a full game so that we can get some idea of what they've got to offer.

Both sides will put out a second string by the look sof things. Would like to see Eder get some game time and some of the new boys like Grimes. I agree with you swan-and-only on the Siggy front. If he can't raise his game for Prem opponents then he's unlikely to do it for a 2nd Division team's B side. If he does get on it'll do him good to get a goal for sure but I'd rather see him rested I think.

Cant see any of our first string started with Man U coming up and, as Kifflom said, it looks like they're sending a second string team which is a shame but it will still be interesting to see who starts for us.
