The 1st 15/20 minutes wasn't a stroll the park with a good save from Nordfelt and a strike which hit the bar so yes York had their chances . Nordfelt , one good save to make but had very little else to do . Rangel looked sluggish now but he linked up well with Dyer but it looks like we won't see him again unless needs dictate.( No Tiendalli so it looks like he's just happy to collect his wages) Amat and Bartley ok , nothing spectacular but a couple of swinging leg clearances put us under pressure .Tabarnou played ok again nothing spectatcular but too good for the opposition . Dyer and Routledge ,Dyer the busier of the two but failed too often trying to beat his man who even having a yard at times to catch Dyer did it with ease but he kept trying and had one of his better games . Grimes tried too hard and his corner taking needs more work , either the communications broke down but he kept over hitting the ball into areas where there wasn't a white shirt which was wasteful considering he kept repeating the same error and one shot which went well wide when a bit more composure would have improved our score line before half time . Ki although a bit rusty kept covering and was there to break up the play, he was replaced by Shelvey who brought a fresh impetus to our attack and was instrumental in creating the 3rd goal . Leon looked comfortable although surprisingly he gave the ball away on a number of occasions kept us going forward . Eder , looks very promising and has a great work ethic, never stopped closing down and got into some good positions which should / could have made the scoreline greater than it finished .I counted 11 chances which on another day could have The York supporters were the nosiest down the Stadium for a long time and didn't stop singing so hats off to them for continuing to support their team throughout the game . It was a tidy relaxed atmosphere which made the game more enjoyable to watch if that makes sense .
Excellent post Matt Seems like we had a good few chances. Not looking to make excuses but it must have been pretty difficult for the team last night, not having played a game let alone played together at all. Hopefully with some games in their legs they'll take more of the chances. Glad Eder is looking good. In his short time on the pitch he's impressed me very much. Always active and looking to be involved, I like him. Thought Tabanou would have impressed but it seems he didn't see much of the ball. Happy with the result and its off to KC Stadium next month. Thanks again Matt
No problem , we seemed to play at a slow pace , maybe under instruction by the bench but I felt if we could have increased the tempo they'd (York) would have tired a lot quicker , but all in all a good result with the fringe players getting much needed game time and now roll on Hull . (disappointed with that draw though ) .
It was a typical giants v minnows game where the minnows really went for it but we never had to get out of 2nd gear to control them. 3-0 was a let off as we cruised past an inferior team that was never going to win......we wont get many games as easy as york and that is understandable and credit to york for trying their best that they need to transfer to their league form that will get them further up the table than they currently are.....
It's what fans are saying that went.....we could and should have had a few more goals and would have if we went up a gear but there was no need we were never going to lose...
It may be just me,but players were slipping hand over foot, especially eder,to much water being sprinkled?especially as it rained in the second half?
Did you tell him that Swansea were the team in white, Pembs Jack? ...or does he think we've been knocked out because we were the red team
He is a good little player who does score goals (mainly cups) when he is played. Unfortunately for him, there is so much competition these days, he can't even force his way into the 'second XI' when everyone is fit.
