He does sort of have a point. These players are proven league and CL non-winners. I think that's his point anyway.
All the objective evidence would show that you're wrong, but if you want to persist with this myth that Coquelin can't cut it for us, that's your prerogative. For the record I would like someone else in midfield to either partner or challenge Coquelin for his position, but we have done far better with him in the side than without.
So are you saying we should get rid of our entire team because non of them have won a league title. Maybe that's why we were linked to Johnny Evans in the summer, and lucky escape we didn't buy Suarez a few summers ago, as he hadn't won a title at that point...
What's wrong with suggesting that we need replacements for some players if we have ambitions to win the league or CL? If our current lot are good enough, why haven't we won it in the last few years?
Nothing wrong with suggesting we need reinforcements to improve and win the league/CL - I think most of us have said the same thing. Just I always think it's dangerous to write a player off because he hasn't won xyz, as you could look at players like Wes Brown, Balotelli, Johnny Evans - hell even Pascal Cygan was an Invincible! - whereas there's plenty of WC players who haven't won a title through no fault of their own.
Exactly. They won big stuff at their clubs. We can't win the big stuff with Giroud and Coquelin (yet anyway). And they are clearly not WC either (unless we use the toilet meaning of WC)
So your saying youd rather balotelli or evans instead of coq or giroud just because they played for clubs that won the title? Personally i think its better to rate players on their skills/performance than the club they play for. For example id have loved us to sign Schneiderlin even tho he hadnt won anything before. Much more than id have liked us to sign anderson becoz he won the league
No-ones suggesting them as improvements though are they? Giroud and Coquelin have not contributed to us winning the league or CL. Actually I'm going to discount Coquelin now because he's barely ever played and has a bit of potential. But it's patently clear that Giroud will never drive us to those two. And someone new would... Quote possibly someone who's not had the chance to before. Your defending something that doesn't really need defending. There are a few players who've played for us for years and got us no closer to the big two. So time to move them on.
Sorry i can see one side of what your saying, but the other side seems to be to judge them on the fact theyve never win anything. Rather than judge them on their ability, as theres many poor players whove wom lots. And as you say coq has only played half a season and win an fa cup fir us.
This summers transfer thread has turned rather sad. No real rumours and the bickering has already started... What happened to those bullshire Benzema rumours? Disappearing like a sneaky fart in a crowded tube train.
The rumours have ended as everyone in the press knows that AW won't buy a world class striker or a DM so they have stopped linking us to anyone. If only the press would say that we DONT need a wc striker or a DM, or they say we must have some more sub 5'11 CM will AW then go and do the opposite as he has clearly heard EVERYFUCKINGONE say what we need for the last 2 seasons and he has failed to do so
No rumours on Benzema coming to us and worse still it appears than him and Rihanna look over too. Rumours on her and Hamilton are hotting up. So it's not just us who won't be getting some action from Benzema....
Wenger has said that getting someone like Benzema may not be the answer as football is a collective game. Thing is though Mr. Wenger, someone is needed to consistently put the ball in the net after the collective pretty tippy tappy build up.
Wenger might be a well respected manager that will go down as a great, but you don't need to be a footballing genius to work out that he is chatting a load of waffle. Getting Benzema or any other top striker would be a significant improvement to our team. It's been the missing puzzle since Henry left. There really isn't any debate on that.
I get the feeling that what he means is that just signing one player won't help if the rest don't play well - for example signing Messi for Stoke won't make Stoke world beaters. Or in our case, if the whole team play as badly as they did against West Ham then it won't matter who is upfront or if we sign Benzema. But it's all about the whole improving as a collective (as we have shown in large stretches of the past two seasons).
The only debate is whether Benzema is as good as you are suggesting. As a player imo, he's not fit to lace Henry's shoes and is flattered by being in such a good team.
