Considering Coqulian got the runround from a 16 year old, I think he should be the back up, to anyone.
Coq didn't get overrun by a 16 year old.

He was outclassed.
So you think a DM was playing directly opposite another DM? Rather than the DM marking an attacking midfielder/shielding the defence?
Doh!
I could be wrong but I'm sure Arsenal have already won a trophy with Coquelin playing for the teamNo but the DM compared to the other DM told a tale in itself. Cannot believe poeple thought/think Arsenal can challenge for honours with Coqulian being there main defensive midfielder. For god sake West Ham plucked a child from there academy who could do a better job.

He did better in ONE game. Arsenal's record with Coquelin on the side is actually very good.No but the DM compared to the other DM told a tale in itself. Linked to grzegorz krychowiak tonight. Holding midfielder from Seville who has a buy-out clause of £22 Mil, so if we want him, there is no need to **** around. Watched him a few times last season, and he is a bit of brute and does his job well enough. Would be happy with him and Coquelin as our two options for that DM position.
This saints fan is a classic example of the gobshite people come up with when talking about Arsenal, just baseless cliched nonsense repeating what they hear. Yeah silly Arsenal fans to think we had a chance of winning something with Coq, even though WE ALREADY DID, and even though Coq's stats last season was better than practically every other DMF in the league including your own beloved Shneiderlen.
It's not just people repeating what they hear, it's people commenting on what they see. Arsenal need steel in the midfield and have done since Viera left. The intricate passing is all well and good but there is no one that can consistently do the dirty work effectively. This is what's needed in the big games against quality opposition and by no means coincidentally why Arsenal consistently bottle the big ones.
When Coquelin came into the side, he won more interceptions than any other midfielder. In addition to this, our results in the big games improved significantly. We beat Man City away which we hadn't done previously for 4 seasons, we beat United at Old Trafford which we hadn't done since 2006 and then drew with them in the league, drew with Chelsea at The Emirates, beat Liverpool comfortably.
You're essentially basing your opinion on what was an all-round horrific performance on the opening day of the season. 9 times out of 10, we would have won that match with relative ease. But it happens. There are 37 games to go.
And please you, as a Saints fan, should know better than to lecture Arsenal fans about winning silverware (your previous comments here).
Arsenal do not win these games 9/10 times. Nowhere near it, these capitulations are very regular including the one you had at St Marys last year, where coqulian looked like a lost little boy..
We have literally won 9 times out of the last ten against west ham.

Capitulations? Are you for real?
Every single top side has poor results against 'lesser' sides, no team is perfect. You've isolated one game again and not looked at the overall impact and influence he had on our season collectively.
Given that I, and others, have refuted every single claim you have made, why are you still here other than having the intention to wum?
Yes I am for real. we could go on all day talking about Arsenal's surrendering particularly in Europe. In the same way Giroud is not the firepower needed to avoid these episodes coqulain is not the midfield steel to balance the flair.
