Crystal Palace's English striker Dwight Gayle, 25, is set to turn down a £6m move to Championship side Bristol City.
So why are we not after him ?
A better player than Andre Gray & cheaper ?
Brentford are asking silly money for him & he's really not worth it

He's turned them down because they're in the Championship, he's not cheaper and he's not better (in my opinion), we should just hurry up and get Gray sorted.

Very difficult to compare until they're both at the same standard
He was in the Championship with Peterborough.
I agree you can't just go by data at a certain level.
Whether to buy somebody depends on so many things. You have to look at the players total play and also consider how they would fit in with the new club and how the new club could help him to be successful.

I'd be quite happy to see Hernandez stay if the Gray talks fall through. He certainly has the technical ability and good speed. If we can bring in a CMF player such as Maloney or Britton or Whittingham who know how to play those through balls up the middle to open up defenses he could be a real threat. Meanwhile hold out for at least 9 mill. euros and if nobody takes him he and Akpom could be quite lethal given the right service.

Totally agree Canada. If he's got a midfield that can get the ball to him in a proper fashion, we might actually see him show us how good he really is. Last season our midfield was absolute ****

I wonder if we would take Brady back if we got promoted and Norwich got relegated?
Robertson will be better than Brady, in certain aspects of his play he already is. We wouldn't get Brady back, unless he was available at a bargain price, and even then he would likely be only playing second fiddle to Robbo.

On the other hand should Robbo be sold I wouldn't have an issue in taking him back. Why would I?

That's the danger with his move. It's a very distinct possibility he'll be back in the Championship next season!
So we can understand why good players dont want to come to us.
If we hadn't tailed off before the FA Cup Final and been able to finish mid table we may have got even better players and not finding ourselves in the Championship now.

I can unfortunately see Andre Gray ending up at Norwich, failing that West Ham are rumoured to be looking for striking options. Are going to do it again, **** about with our main target and then be forced into a panic move at the end of the window?

I suppose at least this time around we have Choooooooba, an emerging Greg Luer, Hernandez if he doesn't go, Jela if he can get his head out of his arse, and Aluko. Can he be as good as he once was in the Championship?

To your last question, Aluko can be better than he was then.

Let's hope so Kemps, he was scuffing aplenty at Accrington as I remember. Aluko, seemingly more than most, seems to be one of those players whose head needs to be bang in the right place to be fully effective. Playing him wide right and not as a striker may also help.

In a way he reminds me of Craig ***an, he seems to think that he's a striker, and if he doesn't Brucey certainly does, but he always seems to do his most damaging work from the flanks.

HULL, QPR, ASTON VILLA AND WEST BROM ALL KEEN ON WEST HAM MIDFIELDER

Aston Villa and West Brom have joined Saint-Etienne in the race to sign troublesome West Ham midfielder Morgan Amalfitano.

Manager Slaven Bilic and Amalfitano recently had a huge training ground bust-up where the player ‘gave attitude’ to Bilic, ending with Amalfitano being banished to train with the youth squad.

According to French source L’Equipe, the 30-year-old is wanted by ‘two English clubs’, believed to be the Villains and the Baggies.

However, Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne are leading the race for the Frenchman. They remain ‘very interested’ in bringing him back to France, and manager Christophe Gaultier had a phone call with Amalfitano yesterday evening over a possible move.

Unfortunately for them, his £40,000-a-week wages could be a stumbling block, which opens the door for a move to a fellow Premier League side who can handle those financial demands.

I doubt we're interested at all.
