Must also say well done to the ECB, did not expect them to rule that the game should be forfeited and hence award Hants the 2 points. All in all its been a pretty good day for HCC today - not before time this season !

Help please. Trying to think of another player that bowled right handed and batted as a leftie - or vise versa. Stuart broad got me thinking yesterday but im stumped

This one goes back years - John Price (Middesex and England) right arm fast, left handed bat and from the same county but the reverse for the great and illustrious Phil Tufnell.

As I half expected, the England players have been made available for the t20 QFs this week (except for Jimmy, given that he's recovering from his injury). Although also as I half expected, Essex have decided against picking Cook.

So Bell for Warks, Buttler for Lancs, and Moeen for Worcs against us.

I also understand that the England ODI squad will meet for a training camp next week, so will not be available for the final two domestic one-day group games. If that is the case, then we should be taking on a Notts team without Hales or Taylor. But we ourselves might have to do without Vince, if he gets called up. No impact on Lancs, our other opponents.

Important to see Ervine score a 100 today (in the 2nd XI Championship). Throw in the fact that he was sub fielder against Warks, and it does suggest that he'll be making his first team comeback tomorrow. If there's any play that is - the forecast wasn't looking too good yesterday.

Shah also played in that game, making a 50. Given that Shah has long since retired from any form of Championship cricket, I presume that only reason why he played in this match was to get a bit of the time in the middle ahead of tomorrow. Which sounds like a very wise decision.

I assume you mean Friday?

Sussex buggered up the second half of their innings there. But then maybe you could say that Northants buggered of their bowling for ten overs. At Hove though, I'd suggest this is 15- 20 under par.

Northants are capable of being 70-0 after the powerplay. But this season, they're equally as capable of being 40-6.

34 off the over from Wiley. The queue to sign him this winter is going to be huge.

Is he definitely going? I thought I read in local paper here that he resigned.

As far as I'm aware, he's still off. Atherton on commentary is still stating it, and an interview with Willey on cricinfo this week includes him saying that even though he doesn't want to leave (he loves Northants), he needs to to further his England career, to compete for all three domestic trophies, and play for a team whose squad is big enough that he isn't required to play every game (as he's suffered a few injuries to date, so would like to able to manage his workload better).

Ok thanks... maybe misread the local paper as I was cleaning the rabbits out and using the paper :)

Great news to see Ervine and Dawson in the squad for tomorrow.

I think my team would be Carberry, Vince, Wheater, Shah, Ervine, Dawson, Smith, Wood, Arafat, Briggs, Fidel.

But, given Dawson's really good bowling recently, I'm happy to accept that there's a case of playing Berg (or Adams, if he wants to get back into t20) rather than Fidel. Maybe slightly harsh on Crane, but with Ervine, Dawson and Fidel now available (and Briggs a shoo-in for t20), I can't see room for him in the side.

Part of me thinks we wouldn't suddenly bring Dawson in for his first game of the competition for us. But then he is on brilliant form, and more importantly we've gone out of our way to bring him back from Essex. Even just last week, Benks was still saying that Dawson would still be available for Essex in t20. If we weren't going to play him, why not just leave him at Essex for the rest of the t20.

Latest forecast I've seen is rain from about midnight tonight, all the way through until 4pm. And then completely clear thereafter. So might come down to just how wet the ground is, as to whether we get a game.
