Just spoken to my mate, who has been a Chelsea STH for yonks.

- Very physically strong
- Very consistent
- Don't expect an attacking threat, but solid defensively
- He'd prefer Romeu to Mikel in their side
- Looked good under AVB and Benitez, got injured - no chance from Mourinho
- Can be a little bit slow on the ball at times, but that may change with more playing time
- Likes to anchor the midfield and content to let others charge upfield and 'hold the fort'

Watched him a bit in his first appearances for Chelsea, but haven't seen him in action ever since.

To put things in perspective, question for those who follow Bundesliga a bit: if you could choose any defensive midfielder from that league, how far down the list would Romeu be?

Pretty irrelevant really.

Based on Bertrand's loan at Villa, if you could've picked any Premier League left-back that season - he would've been low on the list.

Saw him play a couple of times for Stuttgart last season. He'll be a nice fit here - will ensure that we don't miss Wanyama too much if (when) suspended and will provide a really solid wall in front of the back 4 alongside VW should we need it. He can play a bit as well, which is handy. European experience and CB option also a bonus.

A CDM 4 of Wanyama-Clasie-Romeu-Reed sounds pretty decent to me?

Davis and JWP suited to further up imo, along with Juanmi and Tadic in an attacking role. Plenty of room for them all (I think, and hope!)

He was basically the same at Valencia.

Exactly the depth we need to have a crack at the Europa. Along with both domestic cups & the Prem, there should be enough playing time for all.

What's the rumoured fee Beefy? Happy to pay £7m or so for him (roughly what Chelsea ended up paying as I understand it) but a bit of a risk if it's closer to £10m given the injury record

Here he is. A bit out of date but you get the idea. If you're an old fogey like me you may want to mute it as the music is awful - very irritating!
I quite like the music - can't be as old as I thought!

That was, by the way, the Paul Kalkbrenner remix of "La Mezcla" by Michel Cleis, featuring Totó La Momposina on vocals, from the album Bargrooves Over Ice II, if anyone was remotely interested.

Clasie isn't a dm.
