Hull City defeat Accrington Stanley: The player ratings

Eldin Jakupovic: Handed a seemingly obligatory appearance in the City goal. It was a poor choice to punch a late chance to allow Accrington a dramatic equaliser, but made amends with two great saves in the penalty shootout. 5

Moses Odubajo: A bright debut for the former Brentford man who showed a real desire to attack from the right-back role, although some of his crosses were over-hit. 7

Curtis Davies: What looked like it was going to be an easy night didn't turn out to be so as the centre-back was tested more than against Huddersfield. Scored in the shootout. 5

Harry Maguire: Handed a first start, he came to City's rescue with a goal-line clearance at the end of the first half but lost his man for Accrington's first equaliser. 5

Andy Robertson: City were better when he pushed forward, but saw his impact reduced as Accrington threatened. 6

Ahmed Elmohamady: As he did against Huddersfield, played a crucial role with the cross for Greg Luer's goal. 5

was played at a slow pace in the first half, but as the hosts grew he drifted at times. 5

David Meyler: Had an opportunity to be one of the heroes in the shootout, but dragged a poor penalty to win the game wide. 5

Sam Clucas: Booked for a physical first-half challenge on Josh Windass, his first-half shot was City's best effort until late on in normal time. 6

Sone Aluko: Sloppy start to the game with three stray passes in a disappointing first half, but sprang into life after the break as City's main attacking threat. 6

Nikica Jelavic: Looked disinterested for long periods and when involved, there was little impact from a player who should have done better. Lasted just 60 minutes. 4

Chuba Akpom: Brought off the bench to bring an injection of pace and quality, he did just that with his second goal in two games. 7

Greg Luer: A night to remember for the young forward, who picked up his first senior goal and scored in the penalty shootout. 6

Matty Dixon: Made his senior debut after coming on in extra-time, giving his side some needed fresh legs. 6

It's a shame about Jela, he could rip this league up if he wanted to, seemingly he thinks it's below him. I honestly never expected what we're getting from him, I thought he'd have more class, apparently not.

Agreed, I thought that on Saturday, he just doesn't seem like he wants to even entertain playing in this league.

As you say its surprising because he was one of the ones with an exceptional work rate last year and always put the effort in.

I don't think there's a problem with his attitude, there was certainly no lack of effort and movement from him first half - I just think he's nowhere near fit enough; whether that's due to his numerous injury problems of last season, or he's not happy in a Championship side, only time will tell.
 
Sat near a bloke on Saturday who deliberately changed City to Tigers in every song. Was deadly/intensely serious about it too. Everyone around him doing the old "come on City, come on City" as he sings "come on Tigers". Not sure what point he was trying to make.
