One sight of Donny on the train and he will know what he's in for, seriously though the player will be out of his comfort zone, we've had loads similar in the past going over years who have looked like they can score for fun and haven't stepped up at all- Jay Simpson is the most recent, loads of similarities to Gray and being round here didn't agree with him at all.
I said it before, would sooner keep Jelly, pay him some extra money, wrap him up in cotton wool and use him rather than take a punt on a kid who will be playing on his biggest stage, we have Akpom, lets have faith in some of the younger lads like Luer too for a change. And I forgot Aluko even
Electric pace up front is something we've not had in a while & I think Gray has the potential to transform us into something very exciting!
Gray not in the Brentford squad tonight but they have changed the full starting 11 so might not mean much
Said tongue in cheek maybe but how must poor old Shrewsbury Town be feeling, he played four games for them, never scored a goal and they then packed him off to Telford, who also let him slip through their fingers after scoring a single goal in six games. Just shows how a lot of these young 'uns can almost slip through the net. It still amazes me that we let Johnny Margetts go, obviously there's something not quite right with him as he struggled to get a contract with anyone after being shunted out by us, finally landing a one year deal at Tranmere, but it does make me wonder whether we'll regret letting him go in future years.
Sorry, and I'm not trying to disrupt the thread, at least not any more than it already is, but I hope that this £500,000 isn't the latest thing that the Allam's are digging their heels in over, because it's seriously beginning to feel that way. If he's not worth £7m plus add ons, is he worth £6.5m plus add ons, and if that's the case where is the differential in the valuation, is because he never scores headed goals?
Yes just realised the game is on sunday my mistake, but we still seem to prat about a lot when it comes to transfers.
Dwight Gayle to Bristol City for £6m, surely worth a punt if we can't agree with Brentford over Gray?
