Gray knows that his 'brother' is here so come on City do the necessaries and close the deal. Why the hell he would prefer to go to Burnley.
A lot of people assuming Burnley won't spend big, but consider 2 things: 1) They spent **** all during their PL season, which suggests they've got a bit more this season. 2) Every half decent Championship team who think they've got a shot of getting promoted will be spending big this season, because it pales in comparison to the massive BT Sports money deal you get next season. Burnley will no doubt want a slice of that and having lost Ings and having a good reputation for developing lower league talent, I can see them getting him. Which is a shame, because this is the exact same situation we've been through in seasons past and we just haven't learned. If we don't get him, we're going to have to go for Rhodes (sorry OLM) because he'd be the only decent proven striker left in the division and if we are serious about getting out of the league, we need a goalscorer.
Whilst I do agree for the most part, Burnley's biggest signing was £3m. And that was in the Premier League. To triple that in the division below does seem a bit unusual for them.
It does seem strange, but it wasn't so long ago that signing Halmosi was a record deal for the club and later that season we had Bullard for £5m. Last season we got Hernandez for £10m; if the prize is worth it, I think a fair few clubs are going to go for it.
Maybe, but look at the money Fulham threw about last season, £11m on Mccormack. Obviously they blew it but they didn't have any qualms about spending big at this level.
Halmosi, Bullard & Hernandez ... If Gray comes as our next big signing he's not got much to live up to!
I really hope I'm wrong but I have a sneaking suspicion we've blown our chance. The way we have ****ed them around they probably have half a mind to accept a lower amount from Burnley and reject whatever we offer.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33859779 Forest have rejected Burnley's bid for Lansbury. If they want both Lansbury and Gray that would probably be around £14 million and I can't see Burnley spending that type of money.
Suzanne Geldard @LT_Suzanne And if proposed £9million bid from Hull City is correct that would almost certainly rule Clarets out anyway
