I don't know whether to nod my head or shake it Ben. Come on then, what sort of new fangled diet is it this time?
It's pretty decent. Only had a fish special as a quick snack so far. Problem was they poured the mushy peas over the chips. That's a big no no for me.
It's not a diet as such, I'm just eating sensibly. Nearly 3 stone lighter than January last year. I've had my blips but as a rule I've cut out bread, drinking from home & other stuff that's not deemed healthy & increased my intake of veg, fruit & non-alcoholic fluids.. When I drank at home it tended to lead me to the fridge or the take away menus so it was best that I stopped. When we go out I tend to give a little more thought to what I order but don't deprive myself & drink with moderation. The blips I mentioned were caused, I believe, by feelings of deprivation of perceived luxuries, so I now give the diet Wednesdays off. We usually get a take-away & sometimes a beer or two & a bottle of wine. Initially we went a bit daft on Wednesdays but it's calmed down now. One of the hardest parts has been cutting out the Mrs' cakes. We used to get the first samplers of new recipes but I now take them to work & watch them fat ****s munch away on them. It's a lifestyle change more than a diet. A diet is less permanent As George Michael proclaimed "Choose Life" & he hasn't looked back since.
Most fish fillets are boned & Cod is usually skinned, however Haddock is better with the skin on (very tasty) Most important question for me is do they cook in veg oil or dripping.........the best Fish & Chips MUST be cooked in dripping
Yes, between M+s and HMV, surprising how good it is there, not sure of the name though should be easy to find online, the Friary maybe
http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUs...on_Hull_East_Riding_of_Yorkshire_England.html It is the Friary, easy to miss as its only got a littleish shopfront though they do have an outside seating bit now
It was more a Ben McCheshire type image that Choose Life brought to mind for me given the big bit before it. "I chose not to choose cakes. I chose something else"
Bang out of order that – putting peas in a separate pot – like some kind of apartheid. This ‘gentrification’ of the form and etiquette of fish ‘n’ chips is not correct.
Au contraire, what you're advocating is more like some sort of arranged marriage. It being served in the pot is all about mixing freely in whatever way feels right. If they pre-pour the peas onto the chips it makes it more difficult to combine them with the fish. They could even pour them onto the plate (eating in) or one end of the tray (take away) to avoid the walled segregation issue you're concerned about. They just need to be pure until the chosen union is made.
I have recently gone onto an eating plan...I plan to eat everything available as I am doing on of those white collar boxing events (I think). my weakness is fish and chips so this new plan is perfect!!
Hey I'm no member of the bourgeoisie, I just don't like soggy pea chips. And don't get me started on the clowns that pour peas over the fish. Might as well have not deep fried it by the time you get the sad looking limp ****er home.
