It was a special banquet (apparently they do one every few months) rather than their standard fare (which I've never had).
You was disappointed that johnny haddocks was closed? jeez you must have been hungry to eat there. Gilberdyke chippy is better but opening times are very bad. best one around that area is howden fish bar.
Yes it's up the back of Spook Wood, it looks a very new Vineyard - so not sure on the grape quality yet. British Vineyards they are all the rage.
I'm with Ben, Johnny Haddocks is better than Gilberdyke, that fat bloke from Burnley makes terrible patties.
I had no idea it was there until we started looking for a wedding venue, it's a great spot, but ideally you need every one of your guests to own a Land Rover.
I only found it in March when I walked the Golden Fleece Circuit. Great location as it's chalky, South Facing and steep. All perfect conditions for grape growing. There's some great British wines, but as they are often small micro producers prices are at a premium.
