Seems like its only you and a couple of others that actually worry about other things apart from Hull City. How can anyone be worried. We have three weeks left. There are loads of teams that have done nothing yet. We are in an even more difficult situation. I expect more activity after this weekend. A couple fo players will go and we will get at least 3 before KO. To be honest I find all this a lot more interesting than preparing for a year of relegation battling. The fact we are not in the premier league literally does not make any difference to me.
Nor me, if I'm being perfectly honest. As they say, half the fun of the prize is the chase. I think we'll see a fair amount of recruitment this window; as Bruce said, a lot can happen in three weeks and he's right. There's no point concerning yourself with what other teams are doing. On the face of it, it looks like some clubs are doing great business, but then Fulham probably thought the same when they spunked all that money on McCormack and they finished bottom half. I think we'll lose Brady (a given really), N'Doye and Hernandez, but they'll be replaced pretty quickly. Usually we're imbued with a sense of disbelief and rumour as we're often linked with so many players this time of year, perhaps the reality of relegation is slowly dawning on people and they're realising that we're having to restructure. Dare I say it, we're having to dust worselves off and have a go at making a fist of it.
Bentley seems open to the move, a bit of Twitter stalking shows his girlfriend retweeting a tweet saying 'he deserves to play at the highest level and sadly that won't be with the blues etc...'
Southend fan in peace. We've been expecting Bentley to go to a bigger club for some time now. Obviously as a club without the proverbial pot to.............we want as much money as possible for young Daniel. What we don't want for him is to go to a club and then warm the bench. What he needs to improve is competitive games. Will he get those at Hull?
Most, probably. Confidence was lost in our number 1 last year and a young keeper, that we will pay close to £1m for, will be our number 1.
That's interesting. The researcher types on our message board reckoned your existing keepers would be well above him in the pecking order. IF he comes, you are getting a player, that properly coached, will go on to really big things.
as a fan that has watched him regularly roots, could you enlighten us as to his pro`s and con`s, we have seen from you tube footage he is a decent shot stopper, and apparently quite vocal, what is he like with crosses assured or a bit of a flapper ?, and how is his distribution ?? any info would be good thanks
Couple of blades fans I know reckon we're in for Murphy with the potential for Maguire going back on loan for a season as part of the deal.....could all be immense amounts of bullshit, but who knows....Murphy as an attacking MF is certainly the type of player we need
Why would Maguire go back on loan to Sheffield, they're in L1 for god's sake and he did very well last year in the Championship. Plus we need him big style for next year.. Regarding Bentley, he would be an incredibly exciting signing. I don't think he'd begin the season as number one though. McGregor is a very good keeper at Championship level and I think Jakupovic is satisfactory back up. Signing Bentley, having a look at him with the view to loaning him out to either a champ or L1 might be a good way forward.
Obviously he is a very good shot stopper and last season he kept us in games where we should have been dead and buried at times. He is a product of our youth system so he has probably been forgiven more easily for some of his development areas that a more mature keeper. He is very vocal and normally he commands his box but sometimes 22 summers and only two full professional seasons have found him out a bit as he has waved bye bye at some quality crosses. As for distribution he is pretty astute at the throw v kick balancing act. His kicking was been a bit wayward in the early days, but last season he improved on that no end. The thing is with Daniel that he wants to improve all the time and he is. He has confidence galore in his own ability and that reflects in his attitude, very professional and importantly our back four trust him. I'm probably selling him a bit short, but he is not the finished article, but well on the way to it. What he needs is the challenge of regular games at as high a level as possible. I actually hope that he doesn't come to you as I love the guy, but realistically he is going to move to someone, and soon.
That's a good insight. Thanks for taking the time to post it. I have to say I knew nothing about him prior to our reported interest.
we haven't had a decent keeper since Myhill. so yes he will deffinately be an upgrade to what we have.
@CharlieWyett: Norwich considering £3.5m move for Fiorentina's Spanish left-back Marcos Alonso following stand-off over Robbie Brady #ncfc @TheSunFootball Brady's departure not so "inevitable" according to sources at Norwich.
What positions do we need to strengthen then? GK - Definitley only two on the books, and both a bit **** CB - Our strongest area, fine unless Chester/Dawson goes RB - Not seen much of Lenihan, be happy to leave it if Bruce feels he's capable LB - Robertson/Towensend more than enough CM - Definite strengthening needed. One defensive one creative imo Wingers - Could probably do with another with Brady leaving and Snodgrass a while off. Only really got Elmo and not impressed with CJM. Strikers - Assuming we shift the 3 high earners, could do with the same amount in replacements. A loan or 2 could be useful So I think 4 positions need strengthening, with about 6/7 players needing to come arrive in total. Better get cracking
I'd rather have anyone but McGregor as our number 1 but Butland is only just now going to get his chance as Stoke number 1 two years after signing him in 2013 for £3.3 million so don't be too sure that he is a shoe in for number 1 keeper.
