He's made a grand total of 38 league appearances for Stoke in four years. He hasn't got the legs to do the hard-working defensive midfield role anymore. Any player in the Championship with a bit of pace would breeze past a midfield with Huddlestone and Palacios in it. We'd be better off getting someone like Bridcutt.
Didn't he play 20 games the season after his brother died? Anyway, if you look at what the Stoke fans have to say it's pretty telling. People say he'd be a decent signing just cos he played for Spurs when he's done nothing of note literally for years.
2nd post "Good luck to him, it's a pity a championship side didn't have him on season long loan last season it'd been the best thing for all parties." another one same page "To be fair, he was a decent player, it just hasn't worked out for him at Stoke. I feel a bit for him because of what happened to his brother, which must have been difficult. He could potentially be a great signing for someone like Bolton." " I think we're a bit harsh on the bloke. If it was true that he came with an injury it's the medical staff/manager need that ****ing." " He was very good at Wigan and I thought he was also Spurs best midfielder for a while? You don't become a bad player over night... Not sure what went on but hope he carries on player somewhere ok." Its not really supporting your case Rosey
I dont think they actually know when his brother died just found a body a year or maybe even longer after he went missing........
If his knee's ****ed then stay away. Bruce may run the rule over him, if he's fit he'd be ideal on a pay as you play.
The vast majority are negative, as I'm sure you saw, but in case you somehow missed them. "If I could fit him in my car I'd drive him there myself please log in to view this image " "Pie country! Peter Kays white twin brother. Result!" "Wow, Hedley, Eidur and Palacios all in the same team? All they need now is David James and the world is their oyster, well... Retirement home." "They must be mad!" "They are mad . They already have £ Trillions amount of debt , declining support and a love of Balti pies . Sooner or later the **** will hit the fan and they will hit the ground faster than a Gypo's drawers .! Their manager is a bit if a nutter too ..... please log in to view this image " "He has to go somewhere." "They must be smoking something. Unless he is on a v v low (< £500 per week) basic and pay as you play" "I just find it incredible that any club would want him." "Gudjohnsen, Heskey and Palacios all on the same pitch? Are they trying to sink the place below sea level?" "If a player gets injured I can accept that. No one begrudged Odemwingie or Bojan their wages will injured Palacios may have come with a small injury but he made naff all effort to get fit during his time here and became such a fat bastard that even once his (alleged) injury was sorted he was too fat to waddle around for 90 minutes. IMO, surely his contract has some clause about keeping yourself in shape. We should have sacked him without compensation after a couple of years for a blatant breach of this clause." And they go on... The fact they nickname him 'Pissylazyarse' largely sums up the general consensus.
On the subject of Bruce's former players, I'm surprised we haven't been linked with Bendtner yet again. We are 13 days into the new transfer window after all and he does seem to be unhappy at Wolfsburg.
This is all you need to know. I am on an iPad so I can't cut and paste the article. He was on a trial with Philly in the MLS for a month. philly declined to offer him a contract because he did not impress the coaching staff. An MLS team specifically said he did not impress their coaches. If we sign a player that a bad MLS side actually says isn't good enough for them then I want to hear a lot less about the MLS being a Mickey Mouse league. I don't remember from the gold cup game if he was fat. All I remember is the U.S. Going right past his slow ass like he wasn't even there. If you want to judge him for yourself he should be on the field against the might Haiti squad in just over an hour.
Well, if Palacios is injury prone, slow, lacks creativity and never scores goals he will fit right in with the rest of our midfield
It would be nice to think that Brady would stay for another year and try to help get us promoted again as he was part of the relegated team. With the condition that if we don't get instant promotion back to the Premier League then he can leave and there would be a promotion bonus. Surely with the amount of time he has been here, he is settled. Whilst, Admittedly playing in the Championship isn't that appealing and neither is the wage. The prospect of moving to Norwich his hardly rip rawing and they must be one of the favourites to come straight back down. Wishful thinking of course. -----------Any Keeper But McGregor --------Chester-----Dawson-----Maguire Elmo----------------------------------------- Brady ---------Huddlestone-------Diame Snodgrass-------------------------------Robertson --------------------Andre Gray I would love to see this line up at some point next season.
I used to like Palacios. The obvious concern is that he's barely played for years, in fact, last season he didn't play a single game.
I'd prefer four personally as we have had 'lone strikers' and two strikers and we still don't manage to score many goals. We seem to be recruiting from the Jozy Altidore "School for Strikers" all the time and those who are not from there have the "Dicky Knee" syndrome. We are overdue for another Campbell (at this level any way) and this could be our season - I sincerely hope so.
I'd be just as happy if we scored as many as we did last time we went up. Hell I'd take 100 own goals if it meant going back up again.
Humberside have just said pictures appear to show palacios in Portugal but no confirmation from the club....I assume thats because the club is away
