Cracking player last year before the injury, completely agree theres better to come

Anyone else have a chuckle at the Melvu's predictions on HDM link - If Harpers our dominant force this season we're buggered

Johnson is awful, makes me cringe a lot of the time when he plays right-back, for me he is a good winger though, obviously master manager Capello hasn't figured this out yet.

Johnson isn't bad. He's brilliant going forward and is a decent defender. As good as Rosie is, he's not on Johnson's level as an attacker.

I really hope Rosie can move up a gear this season. If he does, he's going to be bloody marvelous.

He's definitely better going forward, but as a defender he's really poor, I go to England games and he's embarrassing to watch.

He's not that bad. He's not switched on but he's a good athlete so he'll get himself out of trouble. That's the modern full-back. What other options are there? Micah Richards and Kyle Walker are exactly the same but not as good attacking. The only other option is someone like Wes Brown but he's always injured.

I'd definitely play Richards ahead of Johnson, I think his all round game is in a different class.

Richards is brainless. He's got no positional sense whatsoever. Plus, when he gets into a dangerous area, he doesn't deliver. He's another athlete dressed up as a footballer. It's **** that the game's gone so far that way.

You think City are better with Harper in the team and Micah Richards is rubbish.

I'm ****ing glad you're not our manager. <laugh>

Well you're saying Glen Johnson is rubbish, and he's widely accepted as England number 1 full back a long way ahead of Richards.

I never said he was rubbish, I said he was brainless. It's obvious to anyone isn't it? Just watch the guy. He's not rubbish because he's an awesome athlete. He's probably the 2nd best right back we have. Sad.

I didn't say City ARE a better team with Harper in, I'd have McKenna everytime. I said we were last season. Results don't lie.

    To back this up:

    Harper didn't start - Played 19, Won 6, Drew 6, Lost 7 - 24 points = 1.26 Points per game.
    Harper started - Played 27, Won 10, Drew 10, Lost 7 - 41 points = 1.51 Points per game.

Remember the Sheff U fans last summer? He's crap, good riddance. Sheff U with Harper - 8th in CCC. Sheff U without Harper.....

Decent facts there Theo although I suspect Sheff Utd's demise wasn't solely down to losing Harps

It's 1.46 ppg in the games he played in and 1.33 ppg in the ones he didn't and he's not a one man team, there's loads of other factors that affected the results. Our results in the second half of the season were way better than in the first half, that's because we signed Stewart, Chester and Fryatt, they all had a far bigger impact on our results than Harper.

I've watched pretty much every game Harper has played for us and there's no stat you can give me that will change my opinion that he's a completely mediocre footballer, I also believe we'd have achieved better results without him in the team. In fact, he owes Matty Fryatt a pint, for making his ppg ratio look okay.

I'd go back to the days when defenders were selected because they were good at defending first and attacking was a bonus rather than the other way round. It might put an end to us being caught on the break by an attacking midfielder or winger with 2 strikers outnumbering the only 2 players in the team capable of defending. If necessary I'd even go as far as to play a right sided centre half as a narrow right back. At least then there's someone to cover off attacks from out wide on our right.
