Apologies or not, I think that sterling has shown his true colours. And he has burnt his bridges. Would you want him in knowing he was happy to drop us and rub ours noses in it? The club should be rid. Keeping him now has no benefit whatsoever. Take the money and spend wisely. It is that last bit that Rodgers cannot seem to do.

His antics this week are a direct result of failure to drop the hammer on him in January and March.

He got away scot-free then imo.

I'd ruin him personally

Tobes is forgetting Rodgers giant ego.

The thought of being the guy who turned sterling round makes him jizz his pants.

Real managers like Ferguson or Mourinho would have buried this guy last january
That's contradictory. If his ego is massive then the fact that this upstart has called him a **** publicly would make his head steam, not create a desire to bring him back into the fold. If he hadn't made it personal I'd have agreed, but it's simply not possible now.

It's not though.... for a real manager like Mourinho sure you are right but Rodgers?

He took on badontelly.... Oh I'll fix him.. I reckon Rodgers is so up his own hole he still thinks he can make the boy give good head and like it.

In the real world it's not on. First day at Anfield he's going to get crucified. But the real world and David bent? They have a tenors relationship

You can't compare taking on a bell end like Mario with this. Yes, I'm sure part of that was an ego trip, but in this case he's managed this player for 3 years and the lad has come out and called him a ****. His ego would have the opposite effect and he'd want him gone as he's threatening both his authority and his reputation

As I said a good manager would have nailed the guy in Feb or March.

Rodgers will still want to turn it round so I hope city bid enough for Henry and take the decision away from brent

I think we put too much store in what people say- especially as reported by the media.
If Sterling were to stay, after a bit of a slap and training on his own for a while he could very easily play for Rodgers again (from the club's point of view, I mean- the lad would probably still sulk).
I don't see it happening, of course, he's surely on his way- I'm just saying don't jump to conclusions based on what you read in papers.

The fact that there's no way back doesn't negate getting the best possible deal - and that's not just about the final buck, as FSG have proved with Torres and Suarez. It's not a firesale, and it's not as if we even need the money now to buy another player, as FSG have deep enough pockets to cover the 'bridging' loan, as it were.

There's a lesson to be learned here, and let's not just make it all about the finances.

Sorry Saint, it's over, even with a new manager. I'd be disgusted if this little **** and his rapacious agent were somehow welcomed back into the fold.

I didn't say it wasn't, did I? As far as I'm concerned he's gone.
My point was that all this talk of "he'll never play again because of what he said" is jumping to conclusions based on our own emotions and not the professional attitudes of owners and management.
Football is a business, and owners will try to manage their prize assets in the most lucrative way possible. If it suited them to try and work him back in I doubt they'd let a bit of name calling stop them.
Anyway, this is all hypothetical and probably irrelevant because I don't see the situation arising. I think we're just playing this to get the best price for him.
I'd still rather see him go abroad rather than to another EPL club, but that doesn't seem likely either.

Sorry I think you're talking out your arse mate

So Rodgers is good then... thanks for letting us know.

Sterling's been let get away with lots during season with aim of keeping him happy..... lfc are strongly denying sterling said he could not work with brent.

.....to his face maybe.

But the press didn't pull that out of their collective arses, they've been fed it.

Rodgers managed him like the David Brent he is, giving him a holiday mid season, wtf? Bigging him up every week massaging his already massive ego, even when he was pish. He helped create the monster that's just spat in his grid.

Don't agree with that. No problem with Rodgers giving him a break mid season, he's a young player who had played full season last year, Euro's in summer and played every game first half of the season.. didn't want to burn him out.

If he'd known he'd had **** him off at the end of the season I doubt he'd have been so kind to him

Giving him a mid season break when no one else was granted the same luxury, was putting him on pedestal. As a manager you never do that, irrespective of their level of talent.

Having allowed him that luxury, he didn't even have the nous to tell the little prick to keep his head down and avoid social media.

Would Fergie or Mourinho have done that with one of their young stars? Yeah right...... it was a completely ****ish decision that had the sole premise of trying to ingratiate himself to the egotistical little tit........and it patently failed.

But was there another 19 year old in the team that had played 50 matches in year and a half at that point in the club?
No...

Just bench the little **** then.

It's ridiculous to send anyone off on a sun holiday on his todd.

As I said a real manager would have long since clamped off the spurting artery that is sterling's mouth

Who picked him for those 50 matches?

As mito said, just leave him out, don't allow the tit to swan off to the Caribbean. If you can't see that it was a ****ing stinker of a call from Rodgers then you're on cloud cuckoo mate

Delph has released a statement saying he's staying put.

"I'm aware there has been intense media speculation surrounding my future in the last 24 hours and I want to set the record straight," he said.

"I'm not leaving. I'm staying at the football club and I can't wait for the start of the season and captaining this great football club."

Delph still has four years remaining on his contract at Villa Park.

We may as well mug city of some extra money. Can include Lambert as a sweetener.

seems city's plans are not going too well.

I am thinking **** it lets just tell them to go stuff it and weaken thier hand for next year..... arsenal look good, cheslea are strong but ctiy looked weak and could sack pelligrini midseason. Utd need a forward....

LFC could do with CL football more than the money off stelring.

just another way of looking at it nobody has done yet.

my ideal is sell the little **** to psg.
