So forget Sturridge then?
See my problem at the moment is trying to fit Herrera, Mata, di Maria, Depay, Carrick, Blind and Schweinsteiger into the team

Sadly for Di Maria, and Man Utd fans because he's a talented if inconsistent player capable of moments of magic, it doesn't seem as if he's in your long term plans. Maybe I'm wrong but it seems that way, at least.

So dropping Herrera back would make the difference? midfielders are not static, they move around all the time

Yes, if you're having 3 attacking midfielders and a forward, you need 2 sitting midfielders or you'll be very open to the counter.

Barca won an European cup with Iniesta, Xavi (who I'd class as attacking midfielders) & 3 forwards in Villa, Messi & Pedro IIRC. I think the requiring 2 sitting midfielders is a Rafa Benitez thing and is a little bit outdated. Even this season Rakitic, Iniesta, Suarez, Neymar & Messi with just Busquets as a traditional holding midfielder.

Even Chelsea only played with 1 real defensive mid this season, they had Fabregas alongside him who isn''t exactly known for his defensive prowess.

Barca keep the ball for 90% of the games and those front 3 are better at winning the ball back than most defensive midfielders in the world.

Possession, possession, possession. It's the way forward. We won this league even including our incredibly accurate punts to the big guy <ok>

Edit....... Oh, and van Gaal taught Barca how to do it <ok>

Possession possession is good if you win football matches. It means **** all if you keep drawing or losing. To a sucker counterattack.

Liverpool's owners are prepared to keep forward Raheem Sterling, 20, in the reserves rather than allow him to leave for below their valuation.

Don't **** with J.W.

If they decide to hang on until January in the hope that they'll somehow get a better price at that point. It shows that they know absolutely jack **** about the game imo.

If he spends 5 months in the stiffs he's going to devalue like a stone.

Barcelona have Sergio Busquets who is the best DM in the world.

They're very aggressive and play a high line, but the reason they're able to do that is because of Sergio - his ability to read the game, occupy space, intelligence on and off the ball is second to none.

Depends - Sterling could have a stormer which increases his price.

FSG have a valuation of Sterling which they know they can get. City aren't the only ones who are interested ...

A stormer in the stiffs?

City are the only club prepared to go anywhere near their ridiculous valuation, hence the reason it's a one horse race.

Read the article <doh>

There's no way on Earth he can play in Rodgers first team again, he's openly called him a ****. You're deluded if you believe he could simply slot back in lol

The article in the Mirror, written by John Cross and David Maddock ... <ok>

My stool holds more credibility than these two.

It doesn't matter who wrote the article. There's no way on Gods Earth he could ever play in a Rodgers side again - unless he publicly ate ****e, which is about as likely as you being appointed as Technical Director.....

Football is fickle, apologise and who knows what will happen...

still think he'll be sold though.

Apologies or not, I think that sterling has shown his true colours. And he has burnt his bridges. Would you want him in knowing he was happy to drop us and rub ours noses in it? The club should be rid. Keeping him now has no benefit whatsoever. Take the money and spend wisely. It is that last bit that Rodgers cannot seem to do.

Tobes is forgetting Rodgers giant ego.

The thought of being the guy who turned sterling round makes him jizz his pants.

Real managers like Ferguson or Mourinho would have buried this guy last january
