Don't have a problem with Sterling wanting to leave - I don't blame him. No doubt he could have handled this better, so it's a shame to see him tarnish his reputation after he became of our best players over past 18 months (bar last 4-5 months).
Get the money in and IF we get Pedro alongside Firmino, I won't bat an eye lid!

Why would the Tribunal amount be so low? is there a limit? Isn't it like Ings will be higher because spurs put in the bid. Surely with City putting two bids in they've accepted how much they think he's worth already. So we say sod you, you're here to stay.
Tell him he's in the squad and must be available to play but trains alone and on the bench until attitude improves ....fine him the weekly maximum each week he doesn't turn up. Wee money grabbing bastard like this? He'll not last two years before he caves...
As I say it was mostly a rant but I honestly think we'd break him within a couple of months, year at most, especially with Euros coming up..oh Roy would keep picking him because he's an arse with a chip but then he'll just get injured.....2 years would have passed and he'd only have played reserve team football...

As frank pointed out, a lot of us were uneasy about the way Lovren engineered his move, at the time. We still thought we were getting a decent player, so we were wrong there. You can't moan too loudly, as him and City are only doing to you, exactly what you and Lovren did to Soton last summer.
Ayre needs to negotiate a fee with City and bring it to a conclusion asap.

For me, it's more to do with the fact that Sterling is a young lad, with loads of potential, but is nowhere near the finished article. It annoys me that so many kids with promise think they deserve to play at the very top without working their way up there with a solid output of consistent performances for a few years. It means the top clubs swallow up all the talent, but also that talent often fails to develop because they don't get the game time they need.
I was nowhere near as miffed over Suarez, because his age and his consistent performance level meant it was the right time (from his point of view), to make what is a dream move for most Latin American players. Also, despite all the background shenanigans, he always gave full commitment to the team on the pitch.
In comparison, Sterling is just a sulky brat who needs a kick up the arse.

Our best player while Suarez was in the team? Not. He was definitely the most improved player in the team in the 13/14 season, but, a few games aside, he didn't continue that progress without Luis in the side (who did, to be fair?).
Edit; missed the 'one of'...
****.... no way was sterling carrying anyone at any time. He did his bit but reality check.... big reality check.
9 goals and 5 assists in a season when we scored 100??
The only thing going for him is he played way less minutes than last season and scored more.

9 goals and 5 assists for a 19 year old, who played wide but also adapted to a central role, playing alongside SAS is pretty damn good. We're talking about a 19 year old who not only didn't look out of place in arguably the 2nd best attack in the world that season but also contributed heavily, especially when Suarez went through a brief lull.
And for the first 6 months of this season gone, he was our best player. By far. Coutinho hadn't hit form by that point but fans remember the most recent form - if Coutinho and Sterling swap their seasons and if Sterling hadn't tried to leave, I don't think we'll be downplaying his contribution.![]()
