Can someone explain to me why there is all this fuss over his transfer. Just as most transfer, he wants to leave a club, who don't want to lose him and there is a club who wants to sign him for less than his club want.

Why is there such a big fuss?

Well that's not going to happen ;) to be honest I don't know why he is going for so much, well over priced for what he is.
Why is there such a fuss over it, it is no different to a lot of transfers. I also agree with you in that 50m for potential is well over priced.

Massively overpriced but hey that is English for you Carroll 35 mill, Henderson 20,
Is he really that good not consistent enough for me by a long chalk at present.

Because Sterling plays for Liverpool TLF, who's 'old boy network' has wedged itself into the football media and now dominate it.

If we had a choice between Sturridge and Sterling who would we sign, The choice would be a close but I suggest our shirt would suit Sterling more as Sturridge would spend half the season injured. Liverpool offered Sturridge his contract when Suarez was still playing ans when Sturridge was on the physio bench recovering from a medium term injury. If you had a choice between them who would you put our shirt on?

From a distance its easy to point fingers at Sterling but when you look close up, you realise that the very injury prone Sturridge is allegedly on £120kpw and he is earning most of his money from the physios bench. So, in fairness, you can expect Sterling to want parity at least.

The club offered Sterling a contract which he rejected, his prerogative to do so, but the club reacted to his rejection by withdrawing protection from the kid and insighting, what I consider a media campaign, against Sterling. As a club Liverpool are doing absolutely nothing to resolve the situation but they remain stoically silent as Sterling is attacked by its old dogs who snarl and snap at Sterling in the press.

Sterlings name has been batted about the back pages where he has been labelled as trouble, a spoilt brat, an ungrateful boy and the club Liverpool screams silence, not a word to stop it. A classless act of a clueless club imo.

I think I'm right in saying that at no time has Sterling gone to the press to slag off Liverpool.

Imo, Sterling had no option but to not show up for training. He is trying to force a way out from behind the trenches, what else can he do?The club wont offer him a revised contract, the club have not defend him against snipes from old players, the club have dragged their feet when dealing, if that's he word, with interested parties. The club have done nothing other than expect Sterling to return to training with his tail between his legs begging to stay and play for them.

The old heavy behemoth that is Liverpool appears to be sinking under the weight of old success made heavier by the lack of new ones, so I can see why Sterling wants out and Liverpool, if they had any class left, should let him go.

If Stirling is over priced then i dread to think how we got £15m for little joe...Football has gone crazy

To be fair he is a cracking player. his skill and ability is second to none but i dont like the way football is going with the obscene amounts of money being thrown about....spend more on grass roots football they should.....

If Liverpool sell him for £50 million then that's a bloody great game played by Liverpool. A lot of the pool fans on here would have taken 20-30 million for him but even they are staggered that it's going to be this big of a transfer. Give me a fully fit Montero every day of the week <ok>

Dai, he's had half a dozen good games. As Jamie Carragher said, he's been missing for the past 6 months <laugh>

I don't understand the fuss either. It would be a joke transfer if City paid anything over £20m for him. He's quick and tricky, but ultimately a poor finisher (...at the moment).

You don't pay £50m for potential. I would just stop reporting the transfer. The transfer is unlikely to happen at this rate anyway, and so Liverpool will have a job to motivate Sterling - who obviously wants to play in the Champions League for a decent team this year (despite the fact he doesn't even look ready for that).

Can anyone on here say that sterling will get a starting berth at man city, arsenal. My answer would be no so 50 mill for a bench warmer good money if you can get it

I doubt very much Liverpool will get the £50 Million, could well be a stale mate, Stumpy has made some very valid points about the old guard, and the boy has been treated badly in my view, hope he gets what he wants.

Fair point...how much does that make montero worth I wonder!

£50 million FFS.And some thought £15 million was too much for Mitrovic.A snip IMO.

You cant blame Liverpool for trying to get as much as they can for him but i dont think even they expect to get that much. I can see him going for around £30-£35m with an extra add on of £5m depending on how many games he plays. One thing is he wont play for Liverpool again with the way things are and as the team is about to fly out to america soon then Liverpool will want this settled very soon....i think it will be sorted by the week end....

They've already turned down £40 million Dai.

Different circumstances now that Stirling said he wont play for rodgers, you watch a deal being struck this weekend....
