Ok is this any different to any other transfer, a club wants him, he wants to go and his club want him to stay. Did Liverpool stamp their feet when they did exactly the same to Southampton last year with the courting of their players. It was ok when they came calling for Joe, we as mere minions are supposed to bend over and let Liverpool shove it up us, well the boot is on the other foot now and a big club wants a player from a smaller club. Big deal. Get over it and move on.

Well its down to the player, if he wants to go he will no matter what the club says. They may have a contract but they don't actually own him, he is not a possession he is a person, and as a person he has free will and thought. if he has decided to go then Liverpool can't do much by forcing the guy to stay.

The old players who are now pundits should be ashamed of themselves for what they are doing in the press. But I still say that £5.2m a year is a hell of a lot of money for a 20 year old kid.

Liverpool can actually make him see out his contract but at the end of the day it will cost the club millions and no owner will want to pay that for a player that dont want to play for the manager. He says if Brendan was to go and someone else took over then he will reconsider his situation. Now i dont think Brendan will leave anytime soon and his best option is to sell him and put an end to this farce. Liverpool fans will never accept him and nobody would want to see Boo's ringing out around the stadium every time he has the ball.......sell him and end this as no player is bigger than the club and neither is any manager.....

The problem is, is that Sterling said that 'it's not about the money' and that he felt bullied by the club, well **** me if being offered £100k a week then I'd love to be bullied.

The price is so high because City need HG players, and now they're panicking with Delph turning them down as their choice of HG players gets smaller.

Personally I would have snapped their hand off for the £40m they offered a few weeks back, but I'd be ecstatic if we got £50m for him instead as he really isn't worth that at all.

I just pray to God we don't blow all the money on Benteke.

Good luck for next season guys, except from when we play you of course <ok>;)

I don't see that there is any problem and what all the fuss is from Liverpool fans, he wants to leave so let him leave and get the money. There are other and better players out there for half what you will get for him.

Dont let yourself be drawn into the bullsh1t never <ok>

Firstly, re: Delph the reports of Man City interest were all unquoted and unsubstantiated I think. The story was just a 'filler' common with Pallace and Williams.

No quotes were reported or substanciated, even by mysterious sources 'close to....' club or player.

To compare the two scenarios is being unfair never because Delph hasn't had to endure a deluge of allegations and accusations attacking his morals and character on national TV and in the national press by old villa dogs who only offer a one sided and unbalanced view. Delph also has not been attacked by villa fans or been racially abuse by them.

If he had been then I am positive that Villa management, same as ANY other club, would have come out publicly to condemn the racisism and abuse used by so called fans wearing the Villa shirt.

Sterling might be a spoiled, precocious whatever, but in reality we don't know him. We don't know him because all he has done is had one interview where he explained his fellings and actions. He did not slag any one off including liverpool or their fans, but still we don't know what he's like and calling him names because someone else has is simply puerile.

Liverpool, seems to me are doing all of the abusing here in order to bully, kick the sh1t out of, a kid so he will acquiesce to their demands.

Imo. this whole saga is a belated response by liverpool to theie own dissapointment in the way they handled, and lost, Suarez. Suarez owned them at the time and liverpool showed themselves up to be toothless, weak and incapable of doing anything about their prize asset from dumping them.

Suarez at the time said it was about wanted to leave for a club with 'ambition' and was nothing to do with money and that hurt liverpool then and festers with them now. They let Suarez go with a whimper then and they are determined that they wont be so forlorn about a player leaving them again.

The Sterling affair is simply a rebound relationship on the rocks. Yet again liverpools top scorer wants to leave them and liverpool are showing that they can't cope, as we did, with another loss.

liverpool is a bully who's past actions have prevented them from learning a thing, so, unable to talk or communicate effectively they have over reacted and lashed out to defend their delicated heart.

A test, simply super impose this debate onto a ghost thread, where the club is not liverpool but e.g. QPR, Leeds, Millwall. Where Sterling is ANOther, a player who wants to leave his club. How would you envisage how the thread would flow?

I think the consensus would be jumping all over QPR, Leeds, Millwall fans for their abusive behaviour and we'd all decry and condemn their racist abuses as unacceptable at least. We'd be jumping on the clubs too for not publicly condemning the actions, racist and abusive, of their fans, who react in their name and wear their shirt.

Imo, liverpool, by not condemning the actions, racist or abusive, of their fans is condoning racism and abuse.

Anyhoo, had my say and I'm off to the Faterland now to check out our boys new and old. Auf wiedersehen für jetzt, Swansea City über alles...........................

I think a lot of us are happy for him to go, if that's what he wants, he only needs to look at other players that have gone there to only sit on the bench for a few years before eventually moving to a different club (Sinclair and Rodwell are a couple of examples).

I think the owners are holding out for £50m because of the 20% sell on clause QPR put in place.

This isn't the first time that they have failed to do this, the last was with a player though. It is shameful how the club have acted or should I say not acted over both issues, this is a club I always admired for doing things the right way, no more.

To me it sounds like you have more of a problem with Liverpool as a football club, as opposed to the whole Sterling situation.

Ofc I might be wrong, but it's just my opinion. <ok>

I have no issue with anything, I am as you are saying just voicing my opinion in this matter, but the way your club have dealt with things or not dealt with things should I say, Is shameful and as another poster on here has said looks like you failing club is condoning racism along with the bullying.

Then that's fair enough, but please don't forget that what one, two, three or even one thousand and twenty four people say doesn't represent the Liverpool fan base as a whole. Every football club has its idiots (or rasict scum bags in this case) and unfortunately there's not an awful lot that can be done about it other than coming together ourselves, and trying to stop racism all together. Yes maybe the club should have come out and apologised on behalf of those who were being racist, but what's to say that they haven't apologised to Sterling behind closed doors? No one knows other than sterling and the club themselves.

I totally agree with you, the minority doesn't represent you or the majority of the fans, What does is your football club and they have been backwards in coming forwards addressing these sort of issues and the backing of Suarez over the several issues he had from racially abusing other players to trying to have one for lunch and now the Sterling issue (even though I don't believe his behaviour has been the best)was shameful and isn't what I expected of a once great club.

It would seem a deal for 49m, just about 29m overpriced. Sky reporting deal agreed.

Liverpool offered £100,000 a week and City offered £200,000 <yikes>

And there was me thinking Sterling had said he'd fallen out with Brenda <whistle>

So 92 games in 3 years and 18 goals goes for £49m .

Bony's stats were 54 games and 25 goals over 18 months and goes for £25m

Absolute madness ! We were obviously ripped off

I said a deal will be reached this week end......it had to at the end of the day more so for Liverpool's benefit. Liverpool can now get on with their preparation for the coming season without the Stirling business hanging over them.....they should both be satisfied with the outcome.....
